Looking for a way to get your kids reading this summer? Stop by the library and have them select several books. Then they can read books to your pet!

When kids read aloud, it helps them build language skills, expand their vocabulary, and improve their reading comprehension. It can also make kids feel more confident and help them focus longer! 📚 🐾

If you need to borrow a pet to read, contact one of our library volunteers at 717.636.1956 and she will schedule a doggie to meet you and your child at the library. Your child and the dog will be fast friends while reading together!

Rocket day was AWESOME!!!! Everyone had a chance to build & launch a rocket, and these kids never seize to amaze!! We even had a 6th grade friend who had some experience in building bottle rockets, and offered some pointers. Some of them shot across the park! Great job everyone!!!!

Last night the Community Library of Western Perry County and Kistler Clovers 4H group joined together to offer a fun storytime at the West Perry Farmers Market. There was a great turnout, and everyone enjoyed meeting "Red", the pony, as well as the tractors and wheel horses. Thank you to the young readers. Even Library volunteer Suzanne Reynolds read a book to the audience! Big thanks to Horse 4H for helping tonight! Joanne Peters

Sooo much is going on at library this summer!

Just an FYI, our phone and Interent are not working well and are not reliable. Emily is working to solve the issues. Stop by to chat with her if you have questions or concerns.

We have planned lots of fun and educational upcoming events:

Today-storytime at WP Farmers Market at 5:30pm with the Kistler Clovers 4H group. The theme is tractors and horses.

Wednesday-"How It Is Made" summertime reading program at the library at 10am.

Thursday July 30th at 1:30 at the library (see flyer below)-Ranger Storytime

All programs are free.

Another great turn out at the library. 16 children came out to make Play-Doh, and we had a messy blast! A special thanks to the adults for helping!!

WHO LOVES PLAY-DOH?!?! Tomorrow is Week 2 of our "How it's Made" library program, and the factory is already pumping out some doh! Join us as we have a mini history lesson on how Play-Doh came about, make our own batch of Play-Doh to take home, and read a story with our snack. All for free!!!

We had a great morning to kick off our Summer Reading Program. We discussed where kites originated, how they were/are made, what they were used for, the size of the biggest kite in the world(🐳) and the smallest (🐞). We watched a clip of Curious George Flies a Kite, and a video on how kites are made. Since our guest kite maker wasn't able to make it, and we couldn't make our own kite today, we improvised and became kite designers, instead. Then we had a snack & read a story. Thanks to all that came! We look forward to seeing you next week!

Ready to get BINGO?

Visit local historical spots in a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally, earn Bingo and take a selfie at each spot! You will earn an interesting locally-authored history book (we have an adult book and a book that is approximately middle school reading level) so have fun playing today!

If you don't want to print the Bingo card, take a screen shot of it and use that as your board. Show the library staff member your selfies and viola!

Our kids summer program is almost here! Join us next Wednesday for our 1st lesson- Kites!! 🪁 🪁. We'll learn the history of kites, how they're made, and make a kite of our very own! Along with a story & snack! We can't wait to see all our friends at the library!
