Crane's Cove at Lake Monticello, South Carolina When you've loved the outdoors all your life, living in a lake house is a dream come true.

We truly love living here on Lake Monticello, and fondly and unofficially refer to our little part of it as Crane's Cove. Whether you prefer to go fishing, canoeing, swimming, or just hang out on the porch or at the Tiki bar, there's plenty of ways to relax. Come on down and stay a spell. Friends are always welcome!

Eclipse 2017 at was actually really cool! It got very dark, the temperature dropped 16 degrees, and the crickets and tree frogs started chirping, but the coolest thing other than the total eclipse (we were in the totality zone) was that as the sun was almost completely blocked, the shadows had the most amazing crispness, and the darkness looked so "artificial" as it crept in, because there was none of the normal orange or reddish tones of a sunset. THAT was probably the freakiest thing!

The longest total solar eclipse on the East Coast will occur in historic Columbia, South Carolina, one of the largest cities in the path of totality. Attractions across the Midlands region will host events Aug. 18-21, 2017, to create an exciting, weekend-long experience in The New Southern Hot Spot.
