Members of our district leadership team and apprentice teachers had a great day at the Rural Education Institute Fall North Summit at Brasstown Valley Resort today!

We had the opportunity to learn alongside educators from across the region about teacher apprenticeships, mentoring and supporting new educators, AI literacy, attendance, workforce development, student supports, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

We are especially proud of the work being done to grow our own future educators. Sessions focused on helping apprentices thrive, strengthening mentoring, competency-based learning, certification, and creating a pathway from apprenticeship to the teaching profession.

It was also exciting to see Union County represented through a session highlighting the Union County Innovative Model and our work around innovation in education!

A great day of learning, collaboration, and bringing back ideas that will help us continue creating opportunities for our students, our teachers, and the future of education in Union County!

At its regular September meeting this evening, the Union County Board of Education unanimously approved a property tax reduction for 2026, lowering the millage rate to 6.590 mills which is below the rollback rate of 6.662 mills.

Thank you to the Blairsville Union County Chamber of Commerce for hosting today’s 9/11 Never Forget Ceremony at Union County High School.

A special thank you to Chief Dyer and to all of our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement officers, and public safety personnel for their unwavering dedication to keeping our schools and community safe.

Today was an important reminder to honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001, to remember the heroes who answered the call, and to recognize those who continue to serve and protect our community each day.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
