Thank you to local Blanchardville author, Raine Fallfish, for her delightful presentation on her new book, "Picus: an Elegy." Raine really knows her classical mythology and the audience was rapt to hear her stories and theories on new adaptations. Fans of American Players Theater would enjoy this book!

Blanchardville Book Group will meet this Saturday- June 13th at 10am to discuss Miss Lulu Bett, by Wisconsin author Zona Gale.

All are welcome to join, even if you did not read the book.

Miss Lulu Bett is a 1920 novel by Zona Gale that won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1921, known for its exploration of gender roles and female independence in a small Midwestern town. The story follows the unmarried Lulu Bett, who lives as a domestic servant for her sister's family until a surprising, accidental marriage to her brother-in-law's brother, Ninian, offers her a chance at freedom, though it's complicated by Ninian's prior marriage. The novel was a bestseller and was later adapted into a successful play, for which Gale also won a Pulitzer Prize.

Congrats to Carmen Danz! She won our May challenge, which was to identify a cut up book within a jar. Which classic novel was it?! (Some clues might be: George and Lennie)

Carmen knew! Mice and Men by John Steinbeck!

(congrats to the other correct entries too, we just drew a name out of the jar)
