The Twin Sisters area (Texas Rural Historic Landscape) will be severely affected along with the rest of us.
They are setting the stage for an eventual 6 lane highway.
!All of it coming straight through Blanco!

No Relief Route in sight for our historic town square and family neighborhoods —- just thousands of vehicles!
Air pollution…noise pollution…constant vibration that will affect our 1800’s limestone buildings!

Good morning y’all! We are knee deep into summer, but this year instead of brown grass, it is a beautiful color green!
Question for all you generational families here in Blanco.
Were any stories of “camp meetings” ever passed down and told in your families? If so, where were they held? Cold Springs perhaps?
Camp meetings were: “Vital religious and social gatherings on the remote frontier, organized by circuit-riding ministers from Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian traditions. Families traveled from miles around, camping in wagons or tents under brush arbors to sing hymns, pray, and hear hours of preaching for days.”

Is anyone seeing Horned Toads in Blanco County recently? If you have let us know, but also let TPWD!

Here’s the down-low from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department:
“Everyone loves h***y toads, but for many Texans the fierce-looking yet amiable reptile is only a fond childhood memory. The Texas horned lizard currently is listed as a threatened species in Texas (federal category C2). Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has initiated a Texas Horned Lizard Watch. Now, by participating, you can take part in an effort to better understand why our official state reptile is doing well in some locations and what factors may have contributed to its decline in other areas. Good morning y’all!
I was asked the other day what that gray building was behind CJ‘s on 281 was once upon a time.
For many of you….you may not know that that was the original first Baptist Church here in Blanco.
I’m not sure of the year it happened but a truck lost control coming over the bridge and slammed into the building. That’s why the exterior is different from our older buildings.
Does anyone know the year that that happened? (See picture in comments…thanks Tanya)
Does anyone have a story from the days that Church was alive and well that they’d like to share?
We’d all like to hear! 😁

Good morning y’all!
Here’s the first of probably many articles to come, about the quarry on the Kruckemeyer ranch. A great turnout of concerned citizens…local citizens, concerned neighbors, county conservation organizations, Blanco City officials, Blanco County Historical Commission chair, as well as the contractor and others. Blanco County News yesterday’s edition.
Spread the word...Speak out!!!
Great news regarding the gravesite…Jo Nell Haas (Blanco County Historical Commission chair) reports the grave is on a separate parcel of land and is safe.
Pictures of the ranch house and a few of the out buildings were taken by Ms Haas. Untouched and preserved just as they stood. Captured in time and preserved in our Blanco history!

Wright & Byrom, Blanco Garage.
It looks like they sold cars also. Anyone know where this was? Maybe the corner of 4th and Pecan where Old 300 is?????
