On April 28, 2026, the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at the Half “Assed” Bar in Bland, Missouri.

Upon arrival, deputies determined the business safe had been accessed, a cash-to-coin exchange machine had been stolen, and an unspecified amount of cash and coins had been taken from the business.

Through the investigation, which included review of surveillance videos from the business and nearby security cameras, and witness statements, deputies identified possible suspects connected to the burglary.

On May 1, 2026, deputies executed a search warrant in the 1800 block of Bem Church Road, near Owensville. During the search, deputies located and seized evidence connected to the burglary. One female suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, pending formal charges.

On May 2, 2026, Associate Circuit Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger issued a $15,000 surety bond for Shayla M. Harmon, of Owensville, Missouri, on the following charges:

• Burglary – 2nd Degree
• Stealing – $750 or More

Judge Brehe-Krueger also issued a $10,000 surety bond for Danielle A. (Strobel) Henderson, of Gerald, Missouri, on the following charge:

• Stealing – $750 or More

On May 3, 2026, deputies located Henderson at the Rosebud General Store, where she was taken into custody. Henderson was transported to the Osage County Adult Detention Center on her warrant and additional pending charges for possession of a controlled substance.

On May 4, 2026, the stolen cash-to-coin exchange machine was recovered.

I’d like to recognize the deputies and detective involved in this investigation for their dedication, long hours, and teamwork. Their efforts were instrumental in identifying the suspects, recovering evidence, and bringing this investigation together. Outstanding work by everyone involved.

Today, the Bland Police Department received official word from the Missouri Department of Public Safety that we have earned the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026. This honor recognizes Missouri communities that demonstrate their commitment to enhancing public safety, investing in and supporting law enforcement and our community.

The Missouri Blue Shield Program was created by Governor Mike Kehoe in January 2025 through Executive Order 25-03. In 2025, 201 Missouri communities earned the Blue Shield designation, recognizing local governments’ significant efforts to reduce crime and foster law enforcement community partnerships to strengthen public safety. The opportunity to earn the Blue Shield designation for 2026 opened on February 4, 2026.

The Blue Shield program grant awards $50,000 for an agency to utilize for training and essential equipment needed by officers and does not increase the annual police budget each year.

I would like to thank Governor Mike Kehoe for creating the Missouri Blue Shield Program and his commitment to public safety in the State of Missouri.
