A thousand thanks to John, Michele, and Nathan Crane for volunteering their time and truck to pick up our shelving from Pittsfield Berkshire Atheneum! Their generosity and hard work saved us thousands of dollars on renting shelves and using a moving company. So many community members spontaneously helped us carry in the pieces at town hall- it made the job so much faster! A big thank you to Lou Daviau for helping me install all these pieces and engineer some solutions to the numerous challenges in a project like this!

The library is packed up and ready for tomorrow’s big move with the moving company! Somehow the logistics have all worked out and we finished everything on the list in the time we estimated! Over the next week we will be bringing over the books in the wall shelving and arranging them on the shelves at the new town hall space. The library will be closed through June 8 and we will update you on our progress each step of the way!

Moving day is getting closer- come visit us before we close for three weeks. We are open through Saturday! Closed May 18-June 7.

Porter Memorial Library will close on May 18 to move its collection to its temporary home in Blandford Town Hall, where it will reopen on June 7 as the renovations begin to the historic 1892 library building on 87 Main Street.
