Student Achievement Spotlight 🌟⚾

Please join us in congratulating recent Upward Bound graduate Brandt "BoBo" Bingham on an outstanding baseball season! 👏

BoBo recently competed in the 2A State Baseball Tournament, helping lead the San Juan Broncos to an incredible run to the 2A State Championship Game, where they finished second. What an amazing accomplishment for BoBo and the entire Broncos team! 🥈⚾

We also want to recognize BoBo's determination and resilience throughout the tournament. Despite competing with a torn MCL, he continued to give his all, demonstrating perseverance, grit, and an unwavering commitment to his teammates. His toughness and dedication are truly inspiring.

As BoBo begins this next chapter, he will be attending Utah Tech University to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. We are excited to see all that he will accomplish both in the classroom and beyond!

We are so proud of our UB alumna, Cheyenne, for her recent achievements in being Native Forward July Undergraduate Student of the Month!

Meet Cheyenne Williams, our July Undergraduate Student of the Month! 👏

A member of the Navajo Nation from Navajo Mountain, Utah, Cheyenne is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Northern Arizona University, where they maintain a 3.40 GPA.

Cheyenne’s journey is rooted in innovation, leadership, and expanding educational opportunities for Native students. As they share, “For me, being a Native Forward Scholar is not merely an academic recognition; it is a sacred trust and a powerful affirmation of my purpose.”

As a FIRST Robotics Mentor at Navajo Mountain High School, Cheyenne guides students in engineering, technical documentation, and team leadership while helping prepare them for higher education. They have also served as Student Body President and Vice President, led outreach efforts to expand the FIRST Robotics program in the San Juan School District, and produced award-winning advocacy and promotional videos that highlight the impact of STEM education in Native communities.

Through their studies, mentorship, and community service, Cheyenne is dedicated to empowering future generations to pursue higher education and creating greater access to opportunities in science and technology. Congratulations on your accomplishments, Cheyenne!

As we wrap up another incredible Upward Bound Summer Program, we wanted to share some of our favorite moments from our final week on campus and our unforgettable trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Throughout the summer, students from across our district came together to build friendships, explore college opportunities, challenge themselves academically, and create memories that will last a lifetime. From creative projects and campus activities to visiting the University of New Mexico, Northern New Mexico College, White Sands National Park, and so many other amazing places, our students embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. 🌵🎓✨

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated Upward Bound staff, counselors, and program coordinator who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our students had a safe, engaging, and meaningful experience. Your support made this summer one to remember!
