Tonight, members had the opportunity to tour the new East Penn Manufacturing Co. distribution warehouse in Maidencreek Township. Members were able to familiarize themselves with the facility, discuss potential hazards, and conduct valuable pre-planning should an emergency occur at the facility.

A big thank you to East Penn Manufacturing for their hospitality, including providing dinner for our members, and for working closely with us to help ensure proper safety and emergency response plans are in place.

Opportunities like this allow our members to become familiar with large facilities in our response area before an emergency happens, helping us provide a safer and more effective response when it matters most.

This weekend our department hosted an Advanced Line Systems Rescue class for members of our department and surrounding departments. Thank you to Elder Technical Rescue Services, LLC for teaching the class!

Last night around 9:00 PM, L12 was dispatched to the 1000 block of Lily Lane in Muhlenberg Township for a reported structure fire.

E66 arrived to find a working fire originating in the kitchen with fire extending to other areas of the home. L12 arrived as the first-due truck and assisted with the primary search, ventilation, and overhaul operations. L12 operated on scene until shortly after 11:00 PM.

Our department handled several other calls throughout the night as well, before turning around this morning to host our annual golf tournament.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported us today, and to everyone who helped make another golf tournament a success! We truly appreciate the continued support of our department!

Earlier this afternoon, (07/02/2026) Blandon Fire Company QRS (Quick Response Service) responded as part of the regional mutual aid system to a declared Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) in Muhlenberg Township. Ladder, Utility, Engine Tanker 12 and command personnel all responded assisting Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue 66 and Muhlenberg Ambulance with treatment/support operations at the Reading Railroad Outer Station.

Upon arrival, our EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technician’s) integrated into the incident's unified command structure and were assigned as QRS Team 2. QRS Team 2 assisted with patient triage, treatment, transport, support and logistics operations. Preliminary estimates indicate that more than 100 patients required medical evaluation and care throughout the incident.

Due to the complexity and scale of the event, emergency resources were mobilized from multiple jurisdictions across the region, including agencies from Berks, Montgomery, Chester, Lancaster and Schuylkill Counties. The coordinated response demonstrated the effectiveness of regional interoperability, standardized MCI protocols, and the strong partnerships that exist between fire, EMS, law enforcement, emergency management, communications, and receiving hospitals.
