We are happy to announce that we have officially placed a new-to-us Engine/Tanker into service.

This apparatus comes to us at a time when it was greatly needed following a severe mechanical failure with our previous Engine/Tanker. After an extensive search, we were fortunate to find a well-maintained used unit with low mileage and in excellent condition that will serve our department and community well.

In addition to being in great shape, this Engine/Tanker features side dump capabilities, which provide a significant operational advantage over our previous apparatus.

We are grateful for everyone's continued support as we strive to maintain dependable equipment and provide the highest level of service to our community. We look forward to putting this apparatus to work and continuing to serve our residents when they need us most.

Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with the friends, family, and fellow officers of Central Berks Police Department officer Kristen Yeager who was tragically killed in the line of duty Friday 05/29/2026.

Rest in Peace, God Speed.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeagerโ€™s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

Yesterday at 4:00 PM, our company was dispatched to Greenwich Township as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). While en route, the incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm, and Deputy 46 requested our company be put to work upon arrival.

U12 arrived and went to work, stretching a second hand line, performing fire suppression efforts, conducting searches, and eventually did extensive overhaul work.

Due to a large common attic space and multiple types and layers of insulation, overhaul proved to be labor-intensive and time-consuming. Our personnel operated on scene for over two hours before being released.

Around 11:45am today, Station 12 was dispatched to the 1300 block of Pleasant Hill Road for a reported dog trapped in a quarry.

Chief 12 arrived on scene and located the canine and its owner approximately 60 feet down a steep embankment. Due to limited access and the terrain, a rope rescue was determined to be necessary, and UTV 66 was requested to assist with transporting equipment, as Ladder 12 could not access the area directly.

Ladder 12 personnel loaded their rope rescue equipment into the Chiefโ€™s command vehicle and made their way to the site. A tree was utilized as a secure anchor point, and crews set up a twin tension rope system. A rescuer was lowered to the dog and owner, where a bridle was placed on the canine using an Anderson Rescue Solutions, LLC MLRS and it was integrated into the rope system alongside the rescuer.

UTV 66 arrived and assisted the other L12 members with a team-based haul operation, successfully bringing both the rescuer and canine safely to the top. The rescuer was then lowered back down, taking an additional Class III harness for the owner, who was secured and safely hauled to the top as well.

The entire rescue was completed in under 45 minutes from Ladder 12โ€™s arrival.

Shortly after clearing the incident, Brush 12 and Engine 12 responded to assist with a brush fire in Richmond Township.

Our volunteers have handled 5 calls so far today. Thank you to our dedicated members for their continued commitment to protecting our community.
