Today we had the opportunity to bring Woodlawn 2 out to JFK Playground for Firetruck Day. Our members and the community had a great time playing with water.

Last night a couple of our members that just finished Firefighter 1 got the opportunity to train alongside Scranton and Armor. A huge thank you to Scranton for inviting us and allowing them to work on getting cleared through Woodlawn.

Less than a week away from our Sportsman raffle. Saturday April 27th. Doors open at 11am, raffles at noon. We added an extra main and side prize as well to the raffle. A crossbow and KalTec 12 Guage. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Today we held our second annual FedEx drill. In this drill we collaborate with the other fire companies in the town to practice fire and victim removal scenarios in a large commercial structure.

Our efforts are coordinated with the maintenance and management staff of FedEx as well, without their help this would not be possible, and for that we thank them!

We practiced multiple first and second floor fire and victim removal scenarios and flowed water from hose lines and the airial master streams. We also practiced EMS tactics and scenarios.

Thank you to all of the companies that joined us today.

This past Monday evening we trained with Newton Abbott Fire Company at Chest it Ridge training facility on second floor fires and victim removal. We also trained on vent, enter, isolate, and search scenarios. Thank you to Newton Abbott for inviting us out!

Crews were standing by and ready to serve the Woodlawn community today if needed. We had a great time watching the eclipse, even if it was a little cloudy! Afterwards we all enjoyed a well earned cookout with grill master Chief 9-1 behind the grill.

The Town of Hamburg fire companies rely on volunteers to respond to emergency calls. During the holidays, the The Town companies get together to run a MAP (Mutual Aid Pumper). This MAP engine is staffed by volunteers from across the town of various companies. Today, members from nearly every company are standing by at our hall, to respond to any emergency call that comes in. For the map program, we have 3 fully staffed apparatus. Woodlawn 4, Newton Abbott 6, and Lakeshore 8.

We would like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.

If you are missing a small brown dog in the area of Rt 5 near the Hamburg/Lackawanna border, by our fire hall, please contact the Town of Hamburg dispatch. We just had a citizen drop off this lost dog to us, and we turned her over to the Town.

Woodlawn members were invited to Newton Abbott Fire Company, Inc. Tonight for a joint bailout training. Bailouts are an essential training our members must conduct yearly in order to be prepared in an emergency situation while inside a fire. As a last resort, if a firefighter needs to immediately leave an IDLH environment, our interior members have a system that will allow them to exit out of a 2nd or third floor building, and rappel to the ground. During the training, we also trained on search techniques and positive ventilation. If you are interested in learning more about what we do, please contact our page! We are always in need of help.

Members of the Woodlawn Fire Company were asked to come out and help with the Blasdell Elementary Field Days today. Our crew was in charge of spaying the kids down after the foam party. We think our members had a much fun as the kids did! Thank you for inviting us for the fun day out.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to our Corn Hole Tournament and Basket raffle yesterday. Thank you to Buffalo Corn Hole League for running the tournament, and to all those who had made baskets up for our raffle, and to those who made donations. The event turned out to be a huge success with 36 teams in the tournament and hundreds of people who showed up for the basket raffles. Seeing the amount of community support left us without words to describe how thankful we are for our community members! We look forward to continuing to provide excellent emergency medical services and fire protection to those in need.

Today's the day! The corn hole tournament and the basket raffle is set! We are looking forward to seeing everyone today! There is no entrance free. So stop in, purchase some tickets to win some awesome prizes, and watch the tournament. You do not need to be present to win any of the raffles. The tournament starts at 11am.

We have nearly 60 baskets for Sunday, including Buffalo Sports Signed merchandise, $100 gift cards, brand new grills, tools, and a lot more! So make sure to stop out starting at 11am to get in the prizes! There is no entrance fee! Beer and food will be available for purchase. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
