Blevins Fire Department with assistance from DeAnn, McCaskill, Washington, Fair Hills and Arkansas Forestry responded to a grass/woods fire at CR 16 and Hwy. 195. The fire burned 5 acres on the south side of 16, nearly burning a house trailer, then jumped CR 16 burning approximately 50 acres before being extinguished.

Hempstead County is now under a Burn Ban, effective Monday, February 23rd.

🔥 Hempstead County Residents – Please Use Caution with Outdoor Burning 🔥

As of today, February 21, Hempstead County is NOT under a burn ban. However, current dry conditions and shifting winds mean wildfires can start and spread quickly.

Even small debris burns can:
⚠️ Get out of control in minutes
⚠️ Threaten homes, property, and livestock
⚠️ Endanger firefighters and first responders
⚠️ Create heavy smoke that impacts road visibility

We strongly encourage residents to avoid open burning at this time to keep Hempstead County safe and prevent unnecessary wildfires.

Blevins Fire Department responded to structure fire on cr 16 at around 10:45 am with assistance from FairHills Fire and DeAnn Fire Department. No one was injured but home was a complete loss, we ask that you please keep the family in your prayers.
