Today, we honored the service and legacy of Captain Thomas Van Simaeys, who retired after 26ยฝ years of dedicated service to the City of Bloomfield Hills. Surrounded by family and colleagues, we celebrated a career defined by leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public service.

Captain Van Simaeysโ€™ impact extended far beyond his job, touching friends, coworkers, and family alikeโ€”an influence most recently reflected in one of his daughters, who was inspired to enter the public safety profession as an emergency services dispatcher with the Bloomfield Township Police Department. She had the special honor of participating in his final radio call, making the moment especially meaningful and memorable.

Thank you, Captain Van Simaeys, for your service and lasting legacy. We have the watch from here. Semper Fi and enjoy your retirement.
