There’s nothing quite like welcoming Gazelles back home. 💙💛

We love when our alumnae return to the place where they learned to love and lead, where lifelong friendships were formed, where many celebrated their weddings, and where some later watched their own children grow.

It was a joy to welcome Judy (Samul) Chau ’77 and Melody (Baer) Brent ’67 back to campus recently. Thank you for stopping by and reminding us that once a Gazelle, .

“Community is a door we allow others to enter.”

As he begins his tenure as Head of School, Mr. Joe Carver shares his first message to the Academy of the Sacred Heart community. Reflecting on the values that shaped his own upbringing, and inspired by Goal IV: The Building of Community as a Christian Value, he shares his excitement for the future and his commitment to nurturing a school where every child is known, loved, and challenged to thrive.

Reunion weekend was a great success as we welcomed alums from many classes and celebrated this year's Wansboro Award winner: Catherine Cliff Dawson '72. Several alums also played in Sunday's alums vs. varsity lacrosse game.

Tomorrow, the Primary School will be the first of our Learning Communities to celebrate Prize Day, capping off their 2025-26 school year. In honor of this cherished Sacred Heart tradition, please read on for a reflection from 1965 Alumna and member of the Board of Trustees, Mary Jo Dawson.

Of all the beautiful traditions at Academy of the Sacred Heart, Prize Day is as long-running as any. Since 1851, students have been celebrated for their achievements and have shared pride in their classmates' accomplishments. Like anything that lasts centuries, some things change while others stay the same. I remember those words still recited at the beginning of each Prize Day: “Honor and Glory to God alone!”

After seven beautiful years, I graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1965. We wore floral wreaths on our heads back in the day. And the graduates wore laurel wreaths! We also wore our white uniforms. And can you believe no parents were in attendance? As still happens today, students were recognized for their success, improvement, service, and living the mission. Like all students who have gone before or since, I will always be a Child of the Sacred Heart. I love seeing my beloved school thrive and wish all students congratulations ahead of their Prize Days, especially the Class of 2026. Très Bien!
