Early this morning, before the rain arrived, our Tree Supervisor, Mr. DeCarlo and crew had to rely on some old-school tree climbing skills to get the job done. Unfortunately, just as he was wrapping up, the skies opened - and he got drenched!
Just another day in Public Works. Great job Mr. DeCarlo and crew!

The Township of Bloomfield Department of Public Works is currently investigating a water main break in the area of Arlington Avenue.

As crews work to locate and repair the issue, the water supply will need to be temporarily shut off in the surrounding area. Residents may experience a loss of water service or low water pressure during this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Water Main Break Update

For residents affected by the water main break in the area of JFK Drive and Hinrichs Place, repair work is continuing and is progressing well.

We currently expect water service to be restored within the next two hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding while our crews work to safely complete the repairs.

Wright's Field Bridge Update...

Temporary Closure: Wright's Field Pedestrian Bridge

The pedestrian bridge connecting Montgomery Street to Wright's Field is temporarily closed for structural evaluation and repairs.

Residents who typically enter Wright's Field from the Montgomery Street side will need to use an alternate entrance during the closure.

We appreciate your patience and will provide updates as they become available.

SPECIAL STORM DEBRIS COLLECTION

The Township of Bloomfield Department of Public Works Roads Division is conducting a special storm debris collection to assist residents with cleanup following the recent storms.

Please remember:
Cut branches into sections no longer than 4 feet and tie them into manageable bundles whenever possible.

Large tree trunks and oversized limbs require a special pickup.

To schedule a large tree debris pickup, please contact the Department of Public Works at 973-680-4127.

4th of July Holiday Schedule

In observance of the Independence Day Holiday, the Department of Public Works & Park Maintenance will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The following service changes will be in effect:
• Bio Bag Collection: There will be no bio bag collection on Friday, July 3rd. Bio bags will be collected on your next scheduled collection day, Friday, July 10th.

• Trash Collection: Trash collection scheduled for Saturday, July 4th has been canceled. Your trash will be collected on your next scheduled pickup date, Wednesday, July 8th. Please note that this collection will be for household trash only; bulk items will not be collected until your 2nd weekly pick up on July 11th.

• Recycling Collection: There are no changes to the recycling schedule during the holiday week.

• Recycling Depot: The Recycling Depot, located at 230 Grove Street, will be CLOSED on Saturday, July 4th.
