The forecast is calling for heat index values between 100° - 105° through much of this week. Please take precautions to stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on family members, neighbors, and pets during these extreme temperatures.

⚠️Due to the forecasted heat, all non-pay electric service disconnections are temporarily paused.

Once weather conditions allow, non-pay disconnections will resume. To avoid service interruption, all past-due balances must be paid in full or your account must have a credit balance by 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2026.

📞 If you are unable to make your payment, we encourage you to contact the office before the deadline to discuss possible payment options.

Take advantage of the cooler evenings to boost savings on your electric bill.
🔹Turn up your thermostat (78° is ideal but any increase is helpful). Pair this with fan usage to stay cool while using less electricity!
🔹Use box or floor fans to create cross-ventilation.
🔹Turn off your AC on cooler nights, instead opening your windows and turning on your fans.
🔹Turn off fans when you leave the room.

Follow these tips to study smart & safe:
🔹Keep chargers, lamps, and any electrical cords away from water.
🔹Don’t overload outlets.

Did you know? When you participate in the RoundUp Program on your electric bill, you are donating to nonprofits in your communities.

One recent recipient of the Community Fund (the organization that distributes member donations from the RoundUp Program), was the Clay County Genealogical Society. Keeping county historical records, they do the important work of preserving Indiana’s history.
