Monday evening, Chief Deputy Terry Wade spent the evening training members of the Eastern Greene Fire Territory on Project Lifesaver.

Eastern Greene Fire Territory recently partnered with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department to purchase a Project Lifesaver receiver, giving our firefighters another valuable tool to assist law enforcement in locating individuals enrolled in the Project Lifesaver program.

Project Lifesaver is designed to help locate individuals who may be prone to wandering or becoming lost, including those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, Down syndrome, or other cognitive conditions. Participants wear a small, personalized tracking transmitter that can assist trained responders in quickly locating them if they wander away from home or their caregiver.

Time is critical when a vulnerable individual goes missing. Having trained personnel and the proper equipment available in our community can significantly improve our ability to assist the Sheriff’s Office with these searches and help bring individuals home safely.

We have already had the opportunity to work alongside the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on locating individuals within our coverage area, and we are proud to continue building this partnership.

This is just another example of the Eastern Greene Fire Territory’s commitment to working with our community and our public safety partners to provide better service and additional resources when they are needed most.

A big THANK YOU to Chief Deputy Terry Wade for taking the time to come train our members, and to everyone who came out and participated in the training.

If you or a family member may benefit from Project Lifesaver, or if you would like more information about enrolling in the program, please reach out to Eastern Greene Fire Territory or the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. We would be happy to help connect you with the appropriate resources.

Today, our crews responded to two separate serious accidents, both requiring significant emergency response. In each incident, a patient was transported by Air Evac Lifeteam 39 - Brazil, IN to a trauma center. Sadly, one of these crashes resulted in the loss of two lives.

We want to recognize Taylor Township Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (dispatcher also) for their outstanding response. Each agency worked within their capabilities while coming together seamlessly as one team to provide care, support, and assistance during two very difficult incidents.

We pray for the injured individuals and hope they are able to make a full recovery. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and everyone affected by these tragic accidents.

Thank you to all of the first responders who answered the call today. Your dedication, teamwork, and professionalism make a difference when it matters most.

The roundabout is open!

Now let’s see how long it takes before someone stops in the middle to wave everyone else through… because that’s the most Indiana thing ever.

Drive safe, yield, and keep it moving!

In all honestly great job on getting it done so quick.
