Good evening, Thunderbird families. This is Doug Lewis, Superintendent of Eastern Greene Schools.

On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I want to personally welcome you to the start of the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to have our students back in our classrooms and look forward to another year of learning, growth, and opportunities for every Thunderbird.

As a reminder, parent drop-off begins at 7:20 a.m. out back at the Elementary/Middle School and 7:30 a.m. at the High School front entrance.

Also, don't forget that all Eastern Greene students qualify for free breakfast each school day, so we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to start the day off right.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish all of our students and families a wonderful first day of school. And don't forget to share those first-day-of-school pictures—we can't wait to see our Thunderbirds kicking off another great year!

Eastern Greene Schools is excited to announce that we have been selected as one of only two school districts in Indiana to receive the Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI) Ready Schools Grant – Cohort 5!

This incredible opportunity will help us work alongside families, businesses, community partners, and regional experts to create a seamless Pre-K through Grade 12 experience that prepares every student for success in college, careers, military service, and life.

The Ready Schools process aligns perfectly with our Strategic Plan and our commitment to ensuring every Eastern Greene student graduates with purpose, confidence, and a plan for the future.

This is another exciting step forward as we continue building momentum through our strategic planning, campus improvements, Early Learning Center expansion, and our focus on preparing every student for what comes next.

Over the coming semester, we'll be sharing more about the Ready Schools process, the partnerships we're building, and opportunities for our families and community to be involved. We look forward to taking this exciting journey together.

Thank you to ROI, our Board of School Trustees, our faculty and staff, and our community partners for believing in the future of Eastern Greene Schools.

What a great way to kick off the 2026–2027 school year!

Today, our entire Eastern Greene Schools faculty and staff came together as one team to prepare for another incredible year. Looking around the room, I was reminded just how fortunate we are to have so many caring, dedicated people who choose to make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.

We are excited to welcome all of our Thunderbird students back on Wednesday, August 5, and we can't wait to see our classrooms and hallways filled with energy once again.

On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, thank you for the opportunity to serve this amazing community. Here's to a fantastic school year!

🚌 Thunderbirds, It’s Almost Time! Let’s Get Ready for Safe Bus Rides! 🚌

The first day of school is just around the corner, and soon our buses will be rolling! 🚍✨

We are so thankful for our amazing Eastern Greene bus drivers—they work hard every single day to get our students to and from school safely. As we gear up for a brand-new school year, now is the perfect time to review a few simple bus reminders with your student.

Here are 3 Easy Bus Rules to start the year off right:

✅ Use inside voices – Loud noises distract the driver and make it harder to keep everyone safe.

✅ Keep hands and feet to yourself – Be kind and respectful to everyone on the bus.

✅ Keep your pockets in the seat – Stay seated so the driver can focus on the road.
