We would also like to thank Heather Rotunda for her continuous support of law enforcement in Davis County. Today she treated Sheriff Dunlavy to a Monster Cookie Cheesecake! Happy Birthday Sheriff!

*** PRESS RELEASE ***

On Saturday June 27th, 2026, a search and rescue group conducting a grid search for a missing person in rural Davis county, located a deceased male individual. The individual was positively identified as Alvin Haines, who had went missing on June 25th.

The body has been transferred to the State Medical Examiner where a cause and manner of death will be determined.

The Davis County Sheriff's Office would like to extend its condolences to Alvin Haines' family and loved ones during this difficult time. The Sheriff's Office would also like to thank all those who assisted in any way in the search for Mr. Haines.

We would like to thank all the volunteers that came out to help yesterday. Everyone who provided food and drinks for the searchers, this was appreciated more than you know. Alvin has not been located and we are still actively searching. A search and rescue group arrived yesterday and they are doing a more thorough grid search with first responders using GPS and drones. Hundreds of acres have been searched and will continue to be searched throughout the day. As of right now extra volunteers are not needed for this grid search. However, if this changes we will let the public know. Please keep Alvin and his family in your thoughts.

The Davis County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing endangered man. 76 year old Alvin Haynes was last seen Thursday, June 25th at approximately 7:00 p.m. at his home in the 18000 block of Impala Trail. it is reported that Mr. Haines left his home on foot without speaking to family members and his destination was unknown. Mr. Haines is living with dementia. He is 5' 10" tall with brown eyes, bald and has a mustache. He was last known to be wearing a green button-up shirt and slippers. The Sheriff's Office would also ask that any residents or property owners in the area where Mr. Haines went missing from, could please check any outbuildings, vehicles and trail cameras. If you see or believe that you have seen Alvin please call 911.
