We’re very excited to have our first fire truck, a 1938 American LaFrance back in the station after a 50 year hiatus.

The Department was organized in October 1959, and by early 1961 purchased a used 1938 American LaFrance 400 Series pumper. This truck was the main pumper until the 1965 Ford/Oren was delivered. At some point it was sold to a fraternity at Ohio State, and then disappeared. The truck recently surfaced on facebook marketplace, following the owners appearance on an episode of American Pickers. The truck had been purchased, and preserved for decades by Pete Stebelton of Groveport Ohio.

Through the generous consideration of Pete’s daughters Jody Stebelton Stokes and Margie Stebelton, along with funds from a private foundation we were able to purchase the truck. Our hope is to have it roadworthy soon and be able to display it as a tribute to those members that founded our department and helped get us to where we are today.

A special thanks to Kevin Robinson, of Robinson Towing and Collison, who provided the means to bring the truck back, and his employee’s who donated their time to transport it. Kevin has always been a greater supporter of the department and we are indebted to him

The Belvedere VFD joins in supporting the Mosti family, and the Toronto Fire Dept as they mourn the loss of FF Larry Mosti.

Tonight we are saddened to report the death of Toronto firefighter Larry Mosti.

Larry served as a firefighter for the City of Toronto for 41 years. Larry also served with TEMS Joint Ambulance District

We ask that you keep his children in your thoughts and prayers as well as his family and friends as they begin to process and mourn this loss.

We will update service information as the family prepares and releases it as well as any immediate needs they may require.

The Belvedere VFD extends its sympathies to the family of Todd Roset.

Regrettably we will not be holding our annual Lenten Fish Fry this year. We’ve held out as long as possible hoping supply chain issues would stabilize, but they have not. We’re faced with extreme increases in price and suppliers who cannot guarantee fresh product from week to week.

We know this is disappointing to many but we don’t feel right raising prices and serving a low quality product. We’re not giving up completely and we hope this issues will resolve to allow fish fry’s again in 2023. Thank You for your past support and continued understanding.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night, the Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported fire alarm activation at a residence in their community. Upon arrival they encountered a "working" structure fire with a person trapped inside. Despite only having a few people on the initial responding fire engine, and while working in absolutely brutal weather conditions, they quickly entered the home, knocked down the main body of fire, and rescued the occupant who was on the floor in a hallway of the home. They also successfully rescued two dogs from the home. The occupant was transported immediately to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and both dogs were cared for onscene by firefighters.

In bigger cities firefighters make rescues, called "grabs" all of the time. But in smaller departments like Belvedere, this is not a normal situation to encounter since they are almost never called to a structure fire with persons still inside. So, that said, congratulations to Chief Humpe and the Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department for a JOB WELL DONE! Under difficult conditions in a situation that you may have never encountered before, you were absolutely perfect! Our prayers to the resident for a quick recovery!

Wintersville and Steubenville fire departments are reminding people they always have the right to call 911 for medical service. Both departments say there are contracts being made with local medical facilities that use private non-emergency transportation that indicate patients should call that comp...

For those wondering why the power is out. According to AEP this is the JVS circuit. Customers from the substation to Eva Maria Estates maybe affected.
