Yesterday, Carol Stream School 4th graders explored the science of sight! Students investigated how light reflects off objects and enters the eye, why good lighting and the right angles help us see clearly, and how our brains flip the upside-down images our eyes capture. They also learned that because every eye is shaped a little differently, light lands differently inside each one, which is exactly why people need different types of corrective lenses. The lesson supports grade level science standards on how light allows us to see. A great start to a year of hands-on science, Cheetahs!

Yesterday, Cloverdale students gathered for a high-flying assembly from BullyFreeUSA, where professional BMX riders paired jaw-dropping big air stunts with a message about respect, kindness and confidence.

Between tricks, the riders walked students through five keys to success and shared their own experiences with adversity, including being told they couldn’t do it. Their message to students was simple: keep going.

With our K-8 students starting last week, today it was our Early Childhood Center students’ turn to kick off the 2026-27 school year!

Our youngest learners arrived ready to explore their classrooms and begin a year of learning and growth. For some, today marked their very first day of school ever!

We’re thrilled to have all of our students back and the school year officially underway across CCSD93!

As schools focus on building relationships and creating positive learning environments, many CCSD93 schools are kicking off the year with fun activities and assemblies.

This afternoon, all Roy DeShane students rotated through interactive stations tied to this year’s theme, Diving into New Learning and Discoveries, and designed to promote creativity, STEM problem-solving, physical fitness and teamwork.

Meanwhile, Heritage Lakes students were captivated by a visit from the Glenbard North Marching Band, which helped the school celebrate in style! Students then colored stars for the school’s Galaxy of Learning display, tied to this year’s theme, Huskies Reach for the Stars!
