Chief Booker believes in young people, sports, leadership, and this community. Booker’s Leadership Academy brings all four together.

Led by Bloomington Police Chief Booker, the academy invests in varsity team captains from Kennedy and Jefferson High Schools, giving student-athletes an opportunity to grow as leaders both on and off the field.

It reflects how Chief Booker leads: intentional, relational, and always invested in what’s next.

To the student-athletes at Kennedy and Jefferson: have a great year. Lead well, compete hard, and take care of each other. We’re rooting for you.

Previous Bloomington Police Chief, John T. Laux passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2026, with Sue, his beloved wife, and their two sons by his side.

John dedicated 26 years to the Minneapolis Police Department, including six years as Chief of Police. He later served five years as Chief of Police in Bloomington. His commitment to service continued well beyond his career through his involvement in organizations dedicated to the betterment of the community. John served on the Minnesota POST Board, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and numerous civic and nonprofit boards, including helping establish CornerHouse and serving Cornerstone, DeLaSalle High School, and St. Bonaventure.

Thank you Chief Laux for your dedication to our department as well as the Bloomington Community.

Now THAT was an EPIC National Night Out!!💙🚔🚒

Bloomington- you know how to do NNO!! From bubble makers, to cotton candy machines, to bounce houses, to food trucks, to Pickleball courts and so much more!

Hundreds of neighborhoods and thousands of people came together for food, games, music, laughter, and conversations that brought people closer.

From kids climbing into squad cars, to neighbors meeting neighbors for the first time, every stop was a reminder that strong communities are built one relationship at a time. We are so fortunate to be a part of witnessing those connections and serving this amazing and strong community!

Let’s do it again next year!! 🎉

⚠️‼️The Bloomington Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a vulnerable adult who left a local hospital (HCMC) without authorization while receiving emergency care. Robert Paul Carlson, age 72, of Bloomington was last seen wearing the pictured clothing below (black pants, yellow button-down shirt).

Officers are actively searching for him and want to ensure he is located safely so he can receive the care and support he needs. Please do not approach or intervene, as his current mental state may cause him to act unpredictably. If you have any information about his whereabouts, contact 911 right away.

Thank you for helping us bring him to safety.

Heads up! West Old Shakopee Road will be closed July 27 through July 31 while crews rebuild the railroad crossing just east of Hampshire Avenue.

A few things to know:
• About 23,000 vehicles use this road every day.
• There are no east-west crossings west of Normandale until 84th Street or American Boulevard.
• The neighborhoods off Nesbitt aren’t shortcuts, so please follow the posted detours.

And one last thing…

Be nice to the detours. They didn’t do anything to you.

We’ll be keeping an eye on them. 😉
