Wishing all teachers, aides, coaches, cooks, students, parents, families, and anyone I'm missing, a big Welcome Back to school!!

And a big shout out to the Caring Adults who showed up and showed out for the schools today. I saw parents, girl scout leaders, union leaders, firefighters, police officers, sorority and fraternity members, and community leaders!

We welcomed students at BHS, BJHS, and my elementary school, Irving, this morning.

People reach out to me regularly the motorcycle noise and I hear it from my own house. From BPD:

Consider this a friendly warning 🚓

If you're speeding, running red lights, driving distracted, or making enough noise to disturb entire neighborhoods along Veterans Parkway, expect to see us.

Throughout August, Bloomington Police Officers will increase traffic enforcement along Veterans Parkway in response to continued community complaints about unsafe driving and excessive vehicle noise.

Veterans Parkway is the busiest roadway in Bloomington, and thousands of people rely on it every day to get to work, school, medical appointments, businesses, and back home safely. BPD will deploy resources to this roadway to aggressively enforce traffic laws, with a zero tolerance objective for the month of August.

Slow down. Put the phone away. Stop at red lights. Keep the noise down.

Hey there,

I want to take a moment to acknowledge everyone who’s been part of the recent conversations around data centers.

Whether you attended last week’s forums, submitted comments, or stayed engaged in other ways, it’s clear that a lot of time, thought, and care has gone into these discussions. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

It’s been heard clearly that large data centers like those discussed are not welcome in our community.

As we move forward, I am supportive of an initial moratorium, pushing for transparency from the City around any proposals under consideration, and advocating for thoughtful, protective actions that prioritize our people, our community, our land, and our resources.

Ahead of tonight’s meeting, I want to share why I oppose removing the downtown flex lane.

The flex lane already balances deliveries, access, bikes, and flexibility over time. Replacing it with more fixed parking prioritizes car storage over people and narrows who downtown serves.

Downtown should support walkability, accessibility, and long-term business vitality -- not just curbside parking.

Abby's statement:
"I want to be very clear: there is no mega data center on any upcoming May agenda. There are no plans in motion, and from my conversations, there is no interest among City Council members in pursuing one.

Our City Staff has no interest in putting in one behind our backs. They couldn't if they wanted to. A project of that scale would require extensive public steps, annexation, multiple ordinances, commission reviews, and full Council approval, each with opportunities for transparency and community input.

In short: there is nothing being quietly advanced, and no path for something like this to happen without the public knowing and being involved every step of the way."

Bloomington Mayor Dan Brady said Friday the city has no plans to consider a data center proposal in May, and the city will schedule a series of public forums on the controversial topic.
