Kearns for Ward 1 I'm Jenna Kearns, born in Bloomington, and I am your Ward 1 incumbent for Bloomington City Council.

Hello, I am Jenna Kearns, a native of Bloomington, IL and I am your Ward 1 candidate for Bloomington City Council. My education and career achievements have been centered around my passion for helping others. My commitment to public service can be seen through my work with nonprofit organizations. My desire to help my community can be measured by this step I’ve taken to be involved in city council. I am determined to be responsive and accountable to the needs of my neighbors. I joined the Illinois Bar Foundation in May 2017 and am currently serving as Senior Program Manager for Illinois JusticeCorps, a program that enhances access to justice for the growing number of unrepresented people in the courts by empowering and training volunteers to help people without lawyers navigate the court system. In this role, I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of the JusticeCorps program at eight courthouses in Illinois, including McLean. I have been recognized for the work I’ve been able to perform with Prairie State Legal Services and I was honored through the Pantagraph for my nonprofit work in their “20 under 40’ spotlight. In this feature, it highlights other recognitions including being selected as a keynote speaker for the Central Illinois Paralegal Association’s Annual Legal Education Seminar and my ongoing involvement with the David Davis Mansion as a volunteer docent and board member. When elected as Ward 1 Councilperson, my priority will be to support efforts that are important to keeping this community safe, economically competitive, and help maintain our reputation as a great place to raise a family. Through accountability, responsiveness, and transparency, I plan to prove that not only can we accomplish these goals as neighbors; but to remain fiscally responsible in our endeavors in the process. My name is Jenna Kearns and I ask for your vote on April 4th to represent Ward 1 on Bloomington’s City Council.

These are the types of projects I think are important to preserve and modernize our community for the future. Miller Park is such an important community asset. To formally put together this community vision, we can now look at fiscally responsible ways to bring it to life. Come out and see!

City Council was proud to walk alongside our local labor unions, community groups, and neighbors this morning. Seeing all of your beautiful faces along the route reminds me why our city is such an amazing place to live and work.

I am deeply grateful for the hard work and dedication of every worker keeping our community moving forward. Happy Labor Day!

Wishing all teachers, aides, coaches, cooks, students, parents, families, and anyone I'm missing, a big Welcome Back to school!!

And a big shout out to the Caring Adults who showed up and showed out for the schools today. I saw parents, girl scout leaders, union leaders, firefighters, police officers, sorority and fraternity members, and community leaders!

We welcomed students at BHS, BJHS, and my elementary school, Irving, this morning.

People reach out to me regularly the motorcycle noise and I hear it from my own house. From BPD:

Consider this a friendly warning 🚓

If you're speeding, running red lights, driving distracted, or making enough noise to disturb entire neighborhoods along Veterans Parkway, expect to see us.

Throughout August, Bloomington Police Officers will increase traffic enforcement along Veterans Parkway in response to continued community complaints about unsafe driving and excessive vehicle noise.

Veterans Parkway is the busiest roadway in Bloomington, and thousands of people rely on it every day to get to work, school, medical appointments, businesses, and back home safely. BPD will deploy resources to this roadway to aggressively enforce traffic laws, with a zero tolerance objective for the month of August.

Slow down. Put the phone away. Stop at red lights. Keep the noise down.

Hey there,

I want to take a moment to acknowledge everyone who’s been part of the recent conversations around data centers.

Whether you attended last week’s forums, submitted comments, or stayed engaged in other ways, it’s clear that a lot of time, thought, and care has gone into these discussions. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

It’s been heard clearly that large data centers like those discussed are not welcome in our community.

As we move forward, I am supportive of an initial moratorium, pushing for transparency from the City around any proposals under consideration, and advocating for thoughtful, protective actions that prioritize our people, our community, our land, and our resources.

y'all! I think we should do this again. who's with me?!
