In June we will be working hard to prepare for camp Evictions and Prevent anyone in our community from being incarcerated due to homelessness.

To get back into the positive from helping 9 children this week stay out of the system and together with their families! ALL FAMILIES ARE NOW SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITIONED INTO STABLE LONG TERM HOUSING OF THEIR OWN OR IN FAMILY SHELTERS WHERE THEY WILL STAY UNTIL THEY GET INTO THEIR OWN HOMES!!!
We now have others we would love to help including an 18 year old who just graduated high school who is sleeping in a car with his parents and dog. We also have 3 Severe Medical Cases referred to us from Health Net, Shalom Center, and Bloomington Hospital who we would like to offer a safe place to recover!

***DONATIONS NEEDED***
We have had such a successful week keeping all of our families together. This week we have kept 9 children together with their families and we have 3 children left that still need our help. I have worked hard all week including 2 days where I worked from 8am to 10:30pm which didn't leave much time for fundraising but helped quickly transition 2 families. One to their own home and one to a local family shelter. We have one family left with 3 kids and we are not giving up on them!

***We Need $176 to Keep Families Together***
One of my favorite sayings is, "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans."
With 4 Social Service Agencies WORKING TOGETHER to help these families with 6 CHILDREN TOTAL along with our EMERGENCY MEDICAL Clients and those who lost their home due to FIRE we ended up needing A Little More Time.
We are currently $176 in the hole and will need another $190 tomorrow to keep everyone SAFELY SHELTERED while we continue to work on finishing up these cases and getting everyone into Stable Long Term Housing of their own. The 3 day weekend did not help with making progress but we are ALL WORKING HARD to get everyone back on their feet and into their own homes.

***We Need $168 by 11am For 6 Children***
We currently have 6 CHILDREN Ages 10, 9, 6, 6, 4, and 2 years old. Today has been VERY BUSY & PRODUCTIVE with lots of Big Wins but also LOTS OF REQUESTS FOR HELP! We transitioned one Family to a local family shelter today and got a new one. Our family with the 10 and 6 year old are going to need 3 more nights to get into their apartment on Monday! Our New Family ONLY NEEDS 2 nights with both parents working! I was lucky enough to get to bring the SWEETEST 9 year old home with me for a sleepover complete with soda and video games! He will go back with his mother tomorrow AFTER WE RAISE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THEIR HOTEL ROOM Hotels for Homeless. I wish I could keep him forever but he wishes he was with his Mommy!
We also have one of our original clients from back in 2020 and her sweet dog that lost their home in a fire and only need 1 night tomorrow so we would LOVE TO HELP HER if we can after we get the kids covered! She is an absolute Angel who successfully completed our program and has donated THOUSANDS of dollars back to our program to help Women Escaping DV over the years!
LET'S SHOW ALL OF THESE FAMILIES SOME LOVE THIS WEEKEND AND HELP KEEP THEM ALL TOGETHER WITH THEIR PARENTS AND PETS!!! These are ALL Very Short Stays with Guarenteed Success Stories with a little help from this incredible community and this Life Saving and Life Changing program!

*UPDATE: STILL NEED $192*
***WE NEED $300*** Mom with 10 & 6 year old
When I answered the call from DCS the worker said, "You answered on the first ring! I can always count on you to answer the phone! I have another situation."
He explains that he has a mom with a son and daughter ages 10 and 6. That she is terrified that he is going to separate them but that he sees no evidence of neglect or abuse. He just needs to figure out a place for them to stay for at least 3 days together until they can get into their apartment with Section 8.
"OF COURSE! WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT!" I respond. When we get cases like this we don't hesitate. HESITATION CAN CAUSE SEPARATION. Instead, we jump into action and figure it out as we go. Over the last 6 years I have tried to change my thought process from feeling the weight on my shoulders of what will happen to these children, these families, if we don't come up with the money to help them. Instead I go into each situation with a heart full of hope and the knowledge that we live in an incredible community that always comes together and in 6 YEARS WE HAVE NEVER HAD A FAMILY SEPARATED DUE TO LACK OF SHELTER!!! NOT ONCE!!! Am I scared? Yes! Will this family ever know that? NOPE!
