Updates from the City of Bloomington, Illinois After Storm Clean Up!
See Below for details!

CLEANING UP AFTER THE STORMS? HEREโ€™S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Due to the overwhelming amount of storm and flood debris across Bloomington, the City will waive additional $30 bucket fees for curbside bulk collection. You do not need to report your damage to the City to have the fees waived.

Residents normally receive one bucket of curbside bulk collection at no charge every other week, with a $30 fee for each additional bucket. Those additional bucket fees will be waived for an initial two-week period and will be reevaluated as cleanup continues.

We still need you to report your storm or flood damage. Residential and business damage assessments are being collected to document the extent and cost of damage throughout the area. That information is important in determining whether our community reaches the thresholds necessary to pursue potential state and federal assistance.

Residential Damage Assessment:

Business Damage Assessment:
https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/fb4e9c048835436bb00bcd83429b9b12

The more complete the picture of our communityโ€™s damage, the better the information available as we work toward potential state and federal assistance. If your home or business sustained damage, please report it.

SPOILED FOOD & GARBAGE
If you lost food due to the power outages, you may place additional bags of spoiled food and household garbage out with your regular garbage collection without purchasing extra garbage stickers.

Please do not overfill your garbage cart. Place additional securely tied bags alongside your cart for collection.

BRUSH & LIMBS
Have brush and limbs you can haul yourself? The Citizen Convenience Center is open Wednesday 11:00 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 7:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Saturday (Before Lunch) 7:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
Saturday (After Lunch) 11:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

The Center is for brush and limbs; flood-damaged household bulk should remain at the curb for collection.

With the significant amount of debris across Bloomington, curbside collection may take longer than usual. Collection may extend beyond the initial two-week fee-waiver period. Please leave properly placed materials at the curb for crews.

We appreciate your patience as crews continue working through the increased volume across the city.

Regular bulk, garbage and Citizen Convenience Center guidelines still apply.

๐Ÿ’š April is Stress Awareness Month ๐Ÿ’š
And letโ€™s be honestโ€ฆ you know who really knows stress?
๐Ÿ‘‰ CAREGIVERS. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ
If youโ€™re caring for someone you love, your stress matters too. Watch out for these signs of caregiver burnout (they can sneak up on you! ๐Ÿ‘€):
๐Ÿšจ Burnout Red Flags
๐Ÿ˜ด Physical Exhaustion โ€“ Always tired, sleep changes, skipping your own health needs
๐ŸŽญ Emotional Rollercoaster โ€“ Irritable, overwhelmed, or feeling down
๐Ÿ๏ธ Isolation โ€“ Pulling away from friends or activities you once loved
๐Ÿง  Brain Fog โ€“ Trouble focusing or making simple decisions
๐Ÿ’ก Now for the good stuffโ€”ways to lower stress and refill your cup:
โœ… Set Boundaries โ€“ It is more than okay to say no and put your needs on the list
๐Ÿค Seek Support โ€“ Lean on family, friends, or caregiver support groups (like Caregiver Action Network!)
๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Accept Help โ€“ If someone offers, say YES. Respite care = recharge time
๐ŸŒฟ Practice Self-Care โ€“ Even 10โ€“15 minutes a day counts! Walk, breathe, readโ€”no guilt allowed
๐Ÿ“… Get Organized โ€“ Apps and calendars can help reduce last-minute chaos
๐Ÿ’ฌ Friendly reminder: You canโ€™t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of you makes you a better caregiverโ€”not a selfish one. ๐Ÿ’–
Drop a ๐Ÿ’š if youโ€™re a caregiver, or tag someone who deserves a little reminder today.
๐Ÿ“ฒIf you need a little extra support or ideas on how to bust through the stress, reach out to our Family Caregiver Advisor who is here to listen and offer support and resources! (309) 661-6400
