🎃👻 It was a SPOOKTACULAR evening at Sheridan's Trunk or Treat! 🦈🍬 The weather couldn't have been better, and our Sheridan Sharks showed up in full force, dressed in their Halloween best! A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing community partners who helped make this event such a special one for our Sharks and their families! 💜💛

💜💛 Happy School Principals Day! 🎉
Our D87 schools have been celebrating their fearless leaders all week, and we want to wrap it up with a HUGE thank you to our amazing D87 principals!

From supporting students and staff to building strong relationships with families, our principals help shape the culture of our schools every single day. Their leadership, dedication and school pride are a big part of what makes D87 such a special place!

The halls of BHS were filled with cheers and Raider pride today as students and staff celebrated our 2026 Class 3A Illinois Marching Band State Champions! 🎉
The Marching Raiders paraded through the hallways of BHS while their fellow Raiders lined the halls to cheer them on and celebrate their HUGE win!

Congratulations again to the 2026 Class 3A champs! Way to go, Marching Raiders! 🏆👏

Los «Marching Raiders» desfilaron por los pasillos de BHS, acompañados por sus compañeros —también «Raiders»—, quienes se alinearon a lo largo del recorrido para animarlos y celebrar su GRAN victoria.

🎃🎶 Something spooky is happening at Sheridan! 👻🦈
Mrs. Moctezuma’s 5th graders are getting into the Halloween spirit with a performance of “Ghost of John,” a spooky melody in a minor key!
Under the guidance of music teacher Mrs. Crews, these talented Sharks learned to sing the song in a three-part round, practicing their timing, listening skills and teamwork to bring it all together! 🎵
Let's give it up for these Sheridan Sharks! They did an AMAZING job! 👏💜💛

🐐🐥 Irving Mustangs Take on the Farm! 🚜
Irving’s 1st graders had an unforgettable day at Farmer Sam’s Farm in Lexington! From feeding goats and holding baby chicks to climbing aboard a giant tractor, they got hands-on learning about farm life while having a blast! 🐴
A big thank you to Farmer Sam for giving our students such a fun learning experience! 💜

¡Los alumnos de primer grado de Irving vivieron un día inolvidable en la granja de Farmer Sam, en Lexington! Desde alimentar a las cabras y sostener pollitos hasta subirse a un tractor gigante, ¡aprendieron de forma práctica sobre la vida en el campo mientras se divertían muchísimo! 🐴

⭕📚 History in Action at BHS!
Students in Ms. Benjamin’s American History classes put a fun spin on learning about Progressive Era reformers last week!
Using hula hoops to create giant Venn diagrams, students compared Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois, working together to decide where different facts belonged.
A little teamwork, some good discussions and a creative way to bring history to life! 👏

⭕📚 ¡La historia cobra vida en BHS!
La semana pasada, los estudiantes de las clases de Historia de Estados Unidos de la Sra. Benjamin le dieron un toque divertido al aprendizaje sobre los reformadores de la Era Progresista.
Utilizando aros (hula-hoops) para crear diagramas de Venn gigantes, los alumnos compararon a Booker T. Washington y a W.E.B. Du Bois, colaborando para determinar dónde ubicar los distintos datos.
¡Un poco de trabajo en equipo, debates interesantes y una forma creativa de hacer que la historia cobre vida! 👏

🌎🎉 Celebrating Our Multilingual Students!
Last night, District 87 hosted its first-ever Multilingual Recognition Ceremony at BJHS! 💜💛
Students were recognized for their achievements and progress along their language-learning journeys. What a great opportunity to celebrate their hard work and the many languages and cultures that make up our D87 community!

A big thank you to our Multilingual Leadership Team for organizing this special celebration, and congratulations to all our students who were recognized! 👏

🏆💜💛 STATE CHAMPIONS!!! 🎶🥁
The BHS Marching Raiders are the 2026 Class 3A Illinois Marching Band STATE CHAMPIONS! 🎉
And this win is one for the history books! The Marching Raiders ended Marian Catholic’s 46-year winning streak in Class 3A!
The Raiders also finished 9th overall in the state, marking their THIRD consecutive year in the top 10!
This is what is all about—hard work, teamwork, and Raider pride! 💜💛

A HUGE congratulations to all 130 Marching Raiders, their directors, and staff on this incredible accomplishment! What a way to make history! 👏

🏆💜💛 ¡¡¡CAMPEONES ESTATALES!!! 🎶🥁
¡La banda de marcha «Marching Raiders» de BHS se ha coronado CAMPEONA ESTATAL de Illinois en la Clase 3A (2026)! 🎉
¡Y esta victoria pasará a la historia! ¡Los «Marching Raiders» pusieron fin a la racha de 46 años de victorias de Marian Catholic en la Clase 3A!
Además, los «Raiders» obtuvieron el 9.º puesto en la clasificación general del estado, ¡marcando su TERCER año consecutivo entre los 10 mejores!

🏃‍♀️🏅Yesterday was a HUGE day for BJHS Cross Country at STATE! 💜💛
A HUGE shoutout to our five Knights who competed at the IESA State Cross Country Meet today: V. Silva, T. Petri, L. Miller, W. Danenberger, and B. Bucio!

The Knight athletes showed up with heart, grit, and pride in the biggest race of the year and walked away with multiple PRs and two state placers in IESA Class 4A XC — including a program‑defining milestone:
Vanesa Silva — 2nd place, 11:37 🥈👏 The first junior high girls XC athlete in District 87 history to finish as a state runner‑up!
Wyatt Danenberger — 25th place, 11:03
A tough, smart race to cap off a breakout season.
And the momentum didn’t stop there —
Linden Miller and Tinley Petri both dropped PRs today, stepping up when it mattered most.
Bastian Bucio closed out his season with a strong, confident finish that showed just how far he’s come.

What a season for our BJHS Knights! We are so proud of the entire team — you all crossed the finish line as champions! 💜💛

¡Un enorme reconocimiento a nuestros cinco «Knights» que compitieron hoy en el campeonato estatal de Cross Country de la IESA: V. Silva, T. Petri, L. Miller, W. Danenberger y B. Bucio!
Nuestros atletas demostraron corazón, determinación y orgullo en la carrera más importante del año, logrando varias marcas personales (PR) y obteniendo dos puestos destacados en la categoría 4A de la IESA, incluyendo un hito histórico para el programa:
