About Us:

At Oasis for Youth, we support suburban youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Since 2010, we've worked with local schools and community partners to connect young people to the resources they need.

In 2024 alone, we served 480+ youth through our four core programs:

Drop-In Center – A safe space offering basic needs and support.

Outreach – Connecting with youth in schools like Kennedy Highschool, Jefferson Highschool, Beacon and more!

Employment in partnership with Mall of America – Helping youth find and maintain jobs! 150 youth employed in 2023 at MOA, with increased job retention.

Housing – Supporting access to safe, stable living

Youth events at Oasis for Youth are a highlight in our programming.

From monthly birthdays to holidays like Halloween, PRIDE, and Juneteenth, we create spaces where young people feel seen, celebrated, and at home.

You can support by sponsoring a youth event through:

-Preparing a hot meal
-Providing birthday cake and decorations
-Donating holiday-specific décor
-Supplying gifts or special treats

A cell phone is not a luxury — it’s a lifeline.

For young people experiencing homelessness, having a cell phone can mean the difference between staying disconnected or being able to access school, jobs, health care, and a future. In today’s world, everything from submitting homework to applying for jobs to accessing vital resources happens online.

Schools expect students to submit assignments digitally.
Most job applications are now 100% online.
Mental health support, housing waitlists, and caseworker contacts? All through apps, email, and portals.

Technology continues to evolve — cloud storage, digital IDs, and secure access to school or government platforms often require smartphones with updated software. Basic phones just can’t handle it. Being without a smartphone means being locked out of essential opportunities.

In Minnesota, the average cost of a smartphone is about $150–$300 upfront, with a monthly phone plan ranging from $35–$75+. That’s often out of reach for youth facing housing insecurity — but it shouldn’t be.

Let’s shift the perspective: A cell phone for a young person without stable housing isn’t a luxury — it’s a basic need in a digital society.

Staff Highlight: Qabzib (She/Her)
School & Community Case Manager

Since joining Oasis for Youth in June 2024, Qabzib has brought heart, skill, and five years of experience lifting up youth voices — both locally and globally. From mentoring students at the University of Minnesota to teaching in Chiang Mai, Thailand, her passion for youth empowerment shines through everything she does.

With a background in Youth Studies and a strong foundation in Racial Justice and Asian American Studies, Qabzib is committed to creating spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and supported.

When she’s not advocating for youth, you’ll find her watercolor painting, taking long walks, capturing moments through photography, or reading a good book.

We’re so lucky to have her on the team! 💛

Celebrating 15 Years of Impact and Partnership!

On Saturday, July 26, we came together to honor 15 years of community, connection, and support for youth. Over 100 of you—founders, long-time volunteers, donors, friends, family, and new faces—joined us to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate this incredible milestone.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised $971 during the event. Your continued support reminds us why gatherings like this matter—especially after long stretches between in-person celebrations in 2019, 2023, and now 2025.
