Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor those McLean County Sheriffโs Deputies who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. ๐๐
Deputy Clarence โDocโ Lanham โ End of Watch: July 27, 1967 โ Deputy Lanham suffered a fatal heart attack after the conclusion of a high-speed pursuit on Illinois Route 9 about 15 miles east of Bloomington.
Deputy Joe Bosshardt โ End of Watch: December 31, 1941 โ Deputy Bosshardt was fatally injured while assisting a tow truck driver who was attempting to remove a vehicle from a ditch on Route 66 near McLean.
Deputy Alvin Vonsar โ End of Watch: January 28, 1935 โ Deputy Vonsar was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect during a raid.
Deputy Charles Adams โ End of Watch: April 7, 1933 โ Deputy Adams succumbed to wounds he suffered nine days earlier after being shot while attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
Deputy Henry โTeddyโ Frank โ End of Watch: October 1, 1881 โ Deputy Frank was shot and killed by a prisoner who was being transported within the county jail.
Their watch may have ended, but their legacy lives on through every Sheriffโs Deputy at MCSO who continues to serve with courage, compassion, and professionalism. Please help us honor and remember not only these deputies, but all fallen law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
