The Archives of African American Music and Culture will host Jazz Women: Hear My Voice, a concert celebrating the legacy of Black women in jazz.

This event will be held at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts on October 23rd, 6:30 pm with doors opening at 5:45 pm.

Bloomington Quilters Guild presents “Quilts From the Heartland—2024” on Friday, October 4th (9-to-5) and Saturday, October 5th (9-to-4) at the Monroe Convention Center, 302 S. Calling all artists and artist groups!

The City of Bloomington, in partnership with the Bloomington Arts Commission, seeks an artist or artistic team working in Indiana or adjacent states to create a signature artwork at Hopewell Commons, a community-oriented area composed of green space, areas for active and passive enjoyment, and arts programming. The city invites proposals for unique, durable, low-maintenance site-specific artwork of any media that will activate Hopewell Commons as a welcoming, inclusive space that reflects the history of the area and facilitates a sense of community and connectedness for the residents and visitors in the developing neighborhood.

Deadline to apply is Friday, March 29th, 11:59 PM EST.

The City of Bloomington’s Department of Economic and Sustainable Development (ESD) is partnering with the Correspondence Club of Bloomington and Hideout Press to commission three local artists or artist groups to create new visual art to be printed on postcards to be used at future Correspondence Club events.

Deadline: 11:59 PM EST, Sunday, March 17, 2024
Budget: $500 honorarium for each of the three selected artists/artists groups.

Artists wanted!

The Bloomington Economic and Sustainable Development department is collaborating with the neighborhood of McDoel Gardens to create a street mural to enrich and visualize the long history of this neighborhood. The mural is focused on the identity and history of the neighborhood, emphasizing shared values of residents.

The Emerging Artist grant supports the professional career advancement of emerging artists living and working in Bloomington, Indiana, and may be used for any expenses related to their work as an artist. Artists may practice any generally recognized art form, including but not limited to music, visual arts, performing arts, film, architecture, literature, etc.
