Today we pause to remember the men and women who gave everything in service to this nation. Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend — it’s a day of gratitude and remembrance for those who never came home.

To the Gold Star families in our community: we see you, we honor your loss, and we are grateful for the sacrifice your loved ones made on behalf of all of us.

As Memorial Day approaches, I encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of the holiday and, if possible, attend one of the ceremonies taking place here in Monroe County.

Thank you to the American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, Wreaths Across America volunteers, and all those who work each year to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Please consider attending a ceremony, volunteering for flag placement, or simply taking a moment with your family to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many for the freedoms we enjoy today.

We remember them this Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. As communities gather for wreath placements, ceremonies, parades, and moments of reflection, may we never forget the true meaning of this sacred day. 🇺🇸

The American Legion Auxiliary proudly stands beside our veterans, active-duty military, and their families — preserving the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and ensuring their legacy lives on through service and patriotism.

Whether attending a memorial ceremony, placing flags at gravesites, or simply taking a quiet moment of gratitude, we encourage everyone to honor our fallen heroes this Memorial Day.

Thank you to ALL organizations that honor and remember those that are laid to rest!

This Saturday, May 16th, we recognize Armed Forces Day and honor the men and women who have served, and those who continue to serve, in every branch of our military.

Service to this country comes with sacrifice. Time away from family. Missed holidays and milestones. Long days, long nights, and a willingness to step forward when called. For generations, our service members have carried that responsibility with strength, professionalism, and quiet dedication.

To all who wore the uniform before, and to those wearing it today, thank you. Your service matters, and our community is stronger because of it.

From all of us at the Monroe County Veteran Service Office, we are grateful for your commitment to our nation and proud to serve those who have served us.
