Some contract highlights: This was a tough year to bargain. State and federal funding is down and regularly under attack, and our district’s past decision-making has left MCCSC in a tough spot. Our members agreed to a less-than-ideal contract because we want to keep schools open, staffed, and supported. Our team worked with administration to ease financial hits (increase in employer medical contribution) and add low-cost benefits (increase in parental leave). Looking to the future, teachers are STRESSED about stagnant salaries paired with rising inflation and increasing utility costs. Let’s start brainstorming now. How can future budgets and contracts keep up with cost-of-living in our county? Keep an eye on future posts to see some ideas we’ve been thinking about… 🤔💭
