Rest easy Chief, thank you for the memories, leadership and fellowship, you will be greatly missed.

February 22, 2026 - The Ellettsville Fire Department is saddened to report the passing of longtime Fire Chief Jim Davis.

Jim joined the department in 1970 and served as a volunteer Captain and Assistant Chief. He was hired full-time in February 1975 under the Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA).

In 1977, Jim was elected Fire Chief and later became the department’s first full-time paid Fire Chief. He retired from the position in August 2013, then returned to serve as Assistant Chief before becoming Ellettsville’s first Town Manager. Jim retired from that role in 2018.

Details for funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time.
