The Friends of the Minnesota Valley is a citizen led and citizen based organization committed to improving water quality in the Minnesota River, protecting natural resources in the valley, reducing erosion, expanding and improving recreational opportunities on the River and in the valley. The Friends are dedicated to working with local units of government, elected officials, non profit organizatio

ns, business owners, farmers, recreational users, and other citizens through educational programs, partnerships, and cooperative efforts to accomplish our goals. Friends of the Minnesota Valley strives to improve communication and cooperation among the people who live, work, and visit the Minnesota Valley as another means of accomplishing it's goals.

Please consider supporting our annual fundraiser by purchasing a raffle ticket or making a donation. We are a non profit with 💯 percent of our proceeds going into the High Island Lake and Watershed projects. At present you can purchase tickets at Curlys, Backwoods Bar, Seventh Avenue Salon in New Auburn or from Friends of High Island volunteers. Banquet tickets MUST be purchased in advance. Due to space limitations and for planning purposes, we cannot sell banquet tickets at the door.

The sampling season has begun! We had the pleasure of working with an environmental science class from Shakopee High School last week.

This is a review from one of the students “I thought yesterdays field trip was a super good learning experience and was also fun. Getting to actually go out and do all the things we've been learning about felt super beneficial in really understanding the concepts. I like that in this class we can actually get active and learn from first hand experience. It was also super cool to participate in official data taking that some people get to do as a profession and really understanding how the data is collected, used, and why its important.”
