We see you, Megan Moore! Thank you for all that you do for BGS!
Join us in congratulating our 2026 Teacher of the Year honorees! All were honored at our awards ceremony earlier this month.
Megan Moore excels at differentiating instruction for students in the Bloomington Graduation School, using flexible grouping, prepared notes, micro-videos, interactive labs, and multimodal resources to ensure every student can engage deeply with science. Her "Battle of the Beaks" lab transformed a complex concept — adaptation and natural selection — into an engaging, hands-on simulation where students used different "beaks" to collect food, recorded data, analyzed class results, and applied findings to real-world scenarios. Students were able to explain survival advantages and environmental pressures using evidence from their own data. She also welcomes students' real-world science "wonders" — animal cloning, migration patterns, rock formations — creating deeper connections to curriculum concepts. 🔬🧬
Megan is an active contributor to the school's community engagement efforts, including the new quarterly Family Preview Nights that invite families into the building to connect with teachers and learn about their students' coursework. She contributes meaningfully to the school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model through the Instructional Leadership Team and became an immediate supportive presence when a new colleague joined the staff. She communicates consistently with families and celebrates student growth. As her nominator shared, "Her approach literally makes our entire building better. Students who typically hesitate in science feel confident, capable, and excited to share their thinking." 💛🌱
