Whoever said “out of sight, out of mind” has never had a water service line break.

A break in the service line outside your home can go unnoticed for days or even weeks until it shows up on your utility bill.

That’s why leak alerts are such a valuable tool. By signing up at bton.in/meter, you can:
• Track your water use
• Monitor consumption trends
• Receive alerts when unusual usage may indicate a leak

A small heads up can make a big difference when it comes to catching hidden leaks early.

Beginning Wednesday, June 10, City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will implement an eastbound lane restriction on West Second Street between South Walker Street and South Euclid Avenue. The restriction will begin at 5:00 a.m. and will remain in place throughout the day.

On Thursday, June 11, the work zone will shift to the westbound lane of West Second Street between South Walker Street and South Euclid Avenue. The lane restriction is expected to remain in place throughout the day, weather and field conditions permitting.

Traffic will be maintained in the unrestricted lane throughout this project, and motorists should expect delays while traveling through the area. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, follow posted traffic control signage, and seek alternate routes when possible.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at today’s Touch-a-Truck event!

We enjoyed giving everyone a chance to get up-close with some of our specialized equipment that helps us maintain Bloomington's infrastructure, including our street sweeper, sewer camera truck, and valve exercising truck.

We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this great event and look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Low water pressure at your faucet? A quick aerator cleaning could do the trick.

Your faucet aerator is the small screen at the tip of the faucet. Over time, sediment and mineral buildup can collect inside the aerator, leading to reduced water pressure, uneven spray patterns, trapped debris, discolored water, and even lower faucet efficiency.

The good news? Cleaning it only takes a few minutes. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Unscrew the aerator
2. Rinse away debris
3. Soak in vinegar to break down buildup
4. Reattach and enjoy the improved flow!

Art, science, and water came together for an inspiring day at the Eskenazi Museum of Art.

Participants explored Mulyana: Vital Ecosystems, learned about watersheds, searched for freshwater macroinvertebrates, and created artwork inspired by the ecosystems they discovered.

Thank you to everyone who joined the City of Bloomington Utilities and the Eskenazi Museum of Art for this creative exploration of art and ecology.

Haven’t experienced Mulyana yet? Join the closing celebration on Saturday, June 21, for one last chance to explore this immersive exhibition. Register at bton.in/VitalEco.

Drinking Water Week is all about connecting our community to the water we rely on every day. Yesterday, we welcomed students from Lighthouse Christian Academy to the Monroe Water Treatment Plant for a look at how Bloomington’s drinking water travels from lake to tap. This lucky group had a guest appearance from recently named Tim the Turtle, who quickly became a tour favorite.
