PUBLIC STATEMENT REGARDING FLOCK CAMERAS

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office would like to clarify the agency’s involvement with Flock Safety cameras located within Calhoun County.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office does not own, operate, maintain, or control any Flock cameras located within Calhoun County. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office has never purchased or paid Flock Safety for the installation or operation of these cameras.

The Flock cameras currently located throughout Calhoun County, which there are six total, are owned and/or funded by the State of Florida. While the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office previously had access to these cameras for legitimate law enforcement purposes, effective today, the Sheriff’s Office will no longer utilize the Flock camera system.

Because these cameras are not owned or maintained by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, any decision regarding their continued operation or removal falls under the responsibility of the State of Florida. However, again, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office will not have access or utilize Flock cameras at all.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office recognizes and respects the importance of individual privacy and the rights of the citizens we serve. We understand that the use of technology capable of recording and documenting vehicle activity can raise legitimate questions and concerns within our community. As a law enforcement agency, we believe it is important to balance effective public safety efforts with the privacy, trust, and confidence of the citizens of Calhoun County.

Our decision to discontinue the Sheriff’s Office’s use of the Flock system reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and maintaining the trust of the community we serve.

The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting our community while respecting the rights and privacy of every citizen.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest on Multiple Drug Charges

On August 27, 2026, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Investigator Norris conducted a traffic stop on a white Kia sedan near the intersection of County Road 69A and State Road 69 North after observing an obscured and unreadable registration plate.

The vehicle was occupied by Monica Jane Willis.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 Deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle with his K-9, which resulted in a positive alert for the odor of illegal narcotics.

A subsequent search resulted in the recovery of suspected methamphetamine and multiple suspected controlled-substance pills, including suspected Adderall/amphetamine and alprazolam. Approximately 0.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine was recovered.

During the investigation, Willis resisted officers' efforts to detain her and was subsequently placed into handcuffs. Investigator T. Lowery, Deputy Jacobs, and the K-9 Deputy assisted Investigator Norris during the detention.

Upon arrival at the Calhoun County Jail, Willis also advised that she had ma*****na concealed on her person. Approximately 2.0 grams of suspected ma*****na was recovered.

Willis was transported to the Calhoun County Jail by Deputy Jacobs.

Willis was charged with:

Possession of Methamphetamine — F.S.S. 893.13(6)(a)
Possession of Amphetamine/Adderall — F.S.S. 893.13(6)(a)
Possession of Alprazolam — F.S.S. 893.13(6)(a)
Possession of Cannabis, 20 Grams or Less — F.S.S. 893.13(6)(b)
Resisting an Officer Without Violence — F.S.S. 843.02
Tampering With or Fabricating Physical Evidence — F.S.S. 918.13(1)(a)

At the time of this arrest, Willis was out on bond for a previous Trafficking in Methamphetamine charge.

🚨 ONLINE PREDATOR INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST 🚨

On August 12, 2026, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office was notified that an individual was at the West End Chevron, just outside the Blountstown city limits, to meet someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

Deputies responded and made contact with individuals identifying themselves as Predator Poachers, who had been communicating online with the suspect while posing as a juvenile. The individuals provided Deputies with extensive communications between the suspect and the person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. The communications had taken place over several months and included numerous sexually explicit conversations and requests.

The suspect, identified as Tony Hernandez, was contacted at the scene. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Hernandez acknowledged that he was there to meet a female he believed was 13 years old. When asked what they intended to do, Hernandez stated they were going to "hang out." When confronted about messages discussing sexual activity, Hernandez stated they were going to do "whatever she wanted to do."

Hernandez's cellular telephone was seized pursuant to a search warrant for further examination and evidence preservation.

During the investigation, Deputies also determined that Hernandez had recently changed his residence but had not properly updated the permanent address listed on his Florida sexual offender registration.

Based on the investigation, Hernandez was arrested and charged with:

🔹 Traveling to Meet a Minor – F.S.S. 847.0135(4)(a)
🔹 Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device – F.S.S. 934.215
🔹 Failure to Report/Vacate Permanent Address – F.S.S. 943.0435

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office would like to remind parents and guardians to talk with their children about the dangers of communicating with strangers online. Individuals who engage with children online with the intent to exploit them can face serious criminal consequences.

We also encourage parents to monitor their children's online activity and to have open conversations about who they are communicating with, what information they are sharing, and who they may be communicating with through social media, messaging applications, gaming platforms, and other online services.

🚨 MOTORCYCLE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST 🚨

On August 8, 2026, K-9 Deputy Earnest was conducting proactive patrol on County Road 274 West when he observed a black motorcycle traveling eastbound without operating tail lights.

Deputy Earnest initiated a traffic stop, and the motorcycle pulled onto Walter Potts Road. The driver was identified as Jason Junior Hollis.

During the traffic stop, Hollis advised Deputies that he did not have a valid driver's license in his possession and did not have a motorcycle endorsement. Hollis further advised that his driving privileges were suspended.

While speaking with Hollis, Deputy Earnest observed that he appeared extremely nervous and detected the odor of ma*****na coming from Hollis's person. During a patdown, Deputy Earnest located a bag containing suspected ma*****na and a clear bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

The crystal-like substance was tested and confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Hollis was charged with:

🔹 Possession of Methamphetamine – F.S.S. 893.13(6)(a)
🔹 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – F.S.S. 893.147(1)
🔹 Driving a Motorcycle Without a Motorcycle Endorsement – F.S.S. 322.03(5)
🔹 Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, 3rd or Subsequent Offense – F.S.S. 322.34(2)(c)

This arrest is another example of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office's commitment to proactive patrol, traffic enforcement, and drug interdiction throughout our community.

🚨 TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO METHAMPHETAMINE TRAFFICKING ARREST 🚨

On August 8, 2026, Deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet traveling southbound on State Road 69 near Baggett Avenue.

During the investigation, Deputies detected the odor of ma*****na coming from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Steven Anthony Glaze, 57, admitted to smoking ma*****na inside the vehicle earlier.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, Deputies located ma*****na, a firearm, and a bottle containing approximately 20.2 grams of a crystal-like substance. The substance was tested and confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Glaze was placed under arrest and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.

Glaze was charged with:

🔹 Trafficking in Methamphetamine (14 grams or more) – F.S.S. 893.135(1)(f)1
🔹 Use or Display of a Weapon During the Commission of a Felony – F.S.S. 790.07(1)
🔹 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – F.S.S. 893.147(1)
