🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public of a scam that is currently circulating throughout Calhoun County.
Scammers are targeting family members of individuals who have been arrested, particularly elderly relatives. The scammers falsely claim that if a certain amount of money is paid over the phone, the arrested individual can be released from jail.
This is FALSE.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office will NEVER request payment over the phone for the release of an inmate. All bonds must be paid in person at the Calhoun County Jail through the proper legal process.
Additionally, if a family member or friend has been arrested and needs to contact you, that person will contact you directly from the jail. Sheriff's Office employees will not call and request money on their behalf.
If you receive a call of this nature, do not provide any personal information or payment. Hang up immediately and contact the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office to verify the information.
Please share this post to help protect your friends, family members, and neighbors from becoming victims of this scam.
