🔥 THE DANGER IN THE KITCHEN WHILE COOKING

The kitchen is one of the most common places where fires start.

It only takes one mistake:
- oil overheats
- food ignites
- flames spread fast

⚠️ COMMON KITCHEN FIRE RISKS:
• Unattended cooking
• Grease/oil fires
• LPG gas leaks
• Electrical appliances overheating
• Flammable items near the stove (towels, paper, curtains)

❌ WHAT CAN HAPPEN:
• Fire spreads to cabinets and ceiling
• Thick, toxic smoke fills the house
• Burns and injuries
• Fast-moving house fire

✔ HOW TO STAY SAFE:
• Stay in the kitchen while cooking
• Keep a lid nearby to smother flames
• Turn off LPG/gas when not in use
• Keep cooking area clean and clear
• Check appliances and cords regularly

❌ AVOID THIS:
• Leaving cooking unattended
• Using water on grease fires
• Wearing loose clothing near flames
• Overloading electrical outlets in the kitchen

💡 REMEMBER:
A small flame in the kitchen can become a big fire in seconds.

One more round of showers and storms today, most likely to impact northeast TN and southwest VA. Hail and Wind are the primary hazards, especially if these clouds break up and we get some sun heating up the atmosphere.
