Your SCVFD in action- Yesterday, Rescue Engine 910 responded with 3 firemen to a MVA with a vehicle fire. They arrived to find a two vehicle, rear end style collision with minor injuries and one vehicle well involved in fire. The fire was extinguished quickly and the highway was restored to a safe condition after removal of the vehicles.

Another example of volunteer dedication- even on a Sunday afternoon

Due to elevated fire weather conditions, residents are urged to refrain from all outdoor burning until further notice. Please utilize alternative disposal methods until weather conditions improve and the risk of wildfire decreases.

Important Permit Information
Permit Season: By Tennessee state law, burn permits are mandatory until May 15th.

Weather Restrictions: Permits may be withheld or suspended daily based on local wind and humidity levels.

Verification: Before you burn, consult the Tennessee Division of Forestry at BurnSafeTN.org to check daily safety status or to apply for a permit.

Prohibited Materials
It is important to remember that a burn permit does not allow for the disposal of man-made materials. In Tennessee, it is illegal to burn the following at any time:

Household garbage and trash
Furniture and mattresses
Most construction and demolition debris

Please dispose of these items properly through local waste management or convenience centers. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community—and our first responders—safe.

Yesterday, the SCVFD assisted the Avoca Fire Dept with a brush fire. Crews arrived to find an active fire in a wooded area that was rapidly spreading up steep terrain. Firefighters worked for several hours to contain and extinguish the blaze.

This incident resulted from careless outdoor burning. As conditions become drier, even a small spark can escalate quickly.

🌿 Please use extreme caution when burning outdoors:
• Always obtain a proper burn permit
• Check local weather and wind conditions
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Ensure you have a safe area cleared around your burn site
