Congrats to two of our own, Anthony Fringer and Jamie Fringer! They attended an accelerated EMT class put on by Megan Overbeck and Adam Harrington at the Mt. Zion Fire Department. Besides attending lectures, they also had to attend 16 E.D. clinical hours and 16 hours of ambulance ride time for a total of 202 hours. Let's give them and all of the other's a round of applause!

***PSA to Blue Mound Residents***

The Village of Blue Mound would like to advise residents that on Saturday, August 15, 2026, The Blue Mound Fire Department will be burning a large brush pile from the recent storm clean-up. The pile is located near Trimble Construction.

We are sharing this information, so residents are aware and do not become concerned when they see fire or smoke in the area.

During this operation, the Fire Department may need to open a nearby fire hydrant, which could temporarily cause some discoloration to the water. The water will remain safe to drink. However, residents may want to avoid washing light-colored clothing during this time as a precaution against possible discoloration. If you notice discolored water in your home, simply run your bathtub or shower for a few minutes and the water should start to clear up.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and wanted to provide advance notice to help keep our residents informed.

The Blue Mound Fire Department would like to thank everyone for coming to support us at our fish dinner! It was once again a success and we can't wait to use the angel tree funds at Christmas!

The Fire Department will be having the Friday night fish dinner at the festival again this year on July 31st! Dinner will start at 5:00 and lasts until it runs out. Dinner will be $15 and include 2 pieces of fish, fries, cole slaw, bread and butter, and tea or lemonade. All proceeds go towards the angel tree!

The Blue Mound Fire Fighters Association and FCC Blue Mound are partnering together to provide a FREE lunch for anyone in the community.

Last night we did some RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training. RIT is a specialized, designated team of firefighters standing by on scene. This training consists of:
*Mayday Protocols: practice how to quickly identify a downed firefighter, convert their harness and perform complex drags/carries
*Air Management: the team carries a specialized RIT bag that is equipped with an air cylinder and regulator hoses to provide immediate breathing air to a downed firefighter whose air supply is depleted or cut off.
