Last night we did some RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training. RIT is a specialized, designated team of firefighters standing by on scene. This training consists of:
*Mayday Protocols: practice how to quickly identify a downed firefighter, convert their harness and perform complex drags/carries
*Air Management: the team carries a specialized RIT bag that is equipped with an air cylinder and regulator hoses to provide immediate breathing air to a downed firefighter whose air supply is depleted or cut off.

Some training from the last few weeks. We have trained on throwing ladders correctly and safely, pulled and laid hoses, and last night we worked on radio communication. For radio communication, we seperated into two groups and went to seperate rooms. One team built an object and then would instruct the other team how to build the same object by giving instructions by radio. This shows how beneficial it is to give clear, precise instructions on calls.
