The Fannin County Community Service Conference is pleased to announce that Nancy Adams will be speaking at the conference this Wednesday, October 5.
Biography:
Nancy Adams is the Family and Consumer Science Agent in Gilmer County – where she serves Gilmer and surrounding counties. In her role, she develops and participates in programming, speaking engagements, and events related to health and nutrition, food preservation, family living, financial planning, and youth development.
After college, Adams worked for eight years in her family’s Greenhouse Business, and that’s where she developed her green thumb. She then worked for 10 years as an agriculture teacher in both Cobb and Cherokee county schools. Now, we are happy to have Adams serving North Georgia in her role as a local Family and Consumer Science Agent.
In Gilmer County, Adams works closely with her team to support and advocate for all three legs of Extension – including Family and Consumer Science, Agriculture, and 4-H. And she is proud to be part of the triad that delivers this lifelong learning access to our local communities.
Adams has a weekly column in Gilmer County’s Times Courier newspaper sharing advice and research on Extension-related topics.
She also oversees the Gilmer SnapEd Grant Program, which provides nutrition education for low-income families.
Adams and her husband, Ashley have six children. Their oldest is a 22-year-old Marine - and their youngest is a sweet and sassy 7-year-old. When not being entertained by their children’s sporting events and engagements, Adams and her husband spend their time traveling down jeep trails, enjoying nature, and fishing throughout the state. They also believe in the goodness that comes from cultivating their family garden and are often preserving and sharing their harvests with friends.
