A short-term assistive technology equipment loan program for school districts and agencies in Missouri. Districts or agencies can borrow equipment on behalf of individuals with disabilities to try out the equipment before purchasing, for use d
uring the time equipment is in repair, or for other short-term needs. Demonstration centers -
Missouri AT provides support to assistive technology demonstration programs. The programs allow individuals with disabilities, their family members, and the professionals that support them; the opportunity to learn about and try out different devices, enabling them to make an informed choice about the equipment that best meets the individual’s needs. The type of devices available for a demonstration varies widely from site to site. Please contact the individual program locations to determine what types of assistive technology are available. Device Recycling & Exchange Programs -
Missouri Assistive Technology's Swap 'n Shop equipment exchange program is a "classified ads" service that connects people with available adaptive devices or assistive technology! Missouri Assistive Technology provides a listing of equipment that consumers would like to buy, sell, trade, or donate at Swap 'n Shop. Missouri AT Durable Medical Equipment Recycling Program provides low-cost, recycled walkers, crutches, canes, commodes, shower chairs, manual and power wheelchairs, positioning equipment, and miscellaneous wheelchair parts, i.e. tires, cushions, armrests, footplates. Small fees are charged to individuals with disabilities based on their ability to pay to obtain adaptive equipment from the recycling program. Donations of equipment are also accepted. Show Me Loans is a low-interest loan program to enable Missourians to purchase assistive technology equipment and devices, home access improvements, or vehicle access modifications for persons with disabilities in Missouri. Kids Assistive Technology-
The Kids Assistive Technology program (KAT) can provide limited funding for assistive technology, vehicle access modifications, and some home access modifications for children under age 21. TAP for Telephone, Wireless and Internet-
The Telecommunications Access Program, mandated by S.B. 721, includes the Telecommunications Access Program for Telephone (TAP-T) and Telecommunications Access Program for Internet (TAP-I). The Missouri Assistive Technology Advisory Council administers both programs.
