Over the weekend, CJC crews responded to a reported structure fire at a motel in the 900 block of Jefferson.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from a second-floor unit. Crews quickly made entry, located the fire, and extinguished it, containing the damage to a single unit. The tenant closed the door after evacuating, which helped contain the fire before personnel arrived. Remember to close before you doze!

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

CJC crews will conduct fire training exercises at a building at 10th and 40th today and tomorrow. During the morning and afternoon, residents may notice fake smoke coming from the area; however, please do not be alarmed, as it is part of a controlled training scenario and not an actual emergency.

These trainings are essential for preparing our crews to respond effectively in real situations, and we appreciate the community’s understanding and support. We are also grateful to the property owner for allowing our crews to use the building for this training.
