The mission of the Bluefield Sanitary Board is to provide customers with high quality, cost effective sanitary sewer services by collecting and treating all wastewater generated from Bluefield WV , Bluefield VA and Brushfork WV service areas and in accordance with applicable Local, State, and Federal permit requirements. Our crews are out in your community every day working hard to improve and rep

air the wastewater infrastructure in Bluefield WV, Bluefield VA and Brushfork WV. These improvement/repair projects help to protect the health and safety of you and your neighbors, as well as reduce the risk of environmental impacts associated with a failing infrastructure. Westside Treatment Plant located at 203 Parsley Street Bluefield Va and Ada Treatment Plant located at Rt 112 Bluefield WV. Westside Treatment Plant is designed to treat 8.3 million gallons of sewer a day, and the Ada Treatment Plant is designed to treat 1.2 million gallons of sewer a day. Approximately 350 miles of sanitary sewer lines combined in Bluefield, WV, Bluefield, VA & Brushfork, WV.

Terms of the offer:
1. All bids must be delivered to the Sanitary Board office at 100 Rogers Street, Bluefield, WV 24701 no later than 3:00 pm Monday February 9th, 2026 in a plain sealed envelope marked clearly on the outside” Vehicle Bid." The bid form enclosed in the sealed envelope must contain the bidders name, address, and local phone number as well as the item being bid and the amount of the bid. All offers to purchase are final and the successful bidder will be notified by telephone.
2. All equipment and vehicles are offered on a “as is” basis and the Bluefield Sanitary Board make no warranty, either expressed or implied, as to the condition or fitness of purpose of the units offered. It is the bidder's sole responsibility to inspect the units being offered and not rely on any other source of information.
3. Evaluations of units offered are only opinions of the Board based on limited knowledge and cannot be relied upon by the bidder
4. All sales are final.
5. All units may be inspected at the garage located at the Ada Treatment plant by appointment. Such appointment can be made by calling Josh Kirk at 276-245-0768 to schedule a time for inspection during normal working hours.
6. The Sanitary Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids with or without cause and to select other than the highest bidder for reasons solely in the best interest of the Board.


All vehicles have a minimum bid of $500. Once payment is received, the vehicles must be removed from the property. All vehicles must be paid for by February 13th, 2026, and removed no later than February 20, 2026. Any vehicle not removed by the deadline will result in the Sanitary Board reclaiming ownership of the said vehicle.

Sanitary Board of Bluefield – Seeking Applications

Wastewater Treatment Plant Skilled Laborer / Operator in Training. Primary duties will include general facility maintenance and upkeep of our Ada Wastewater Treatment Plant. Previous construction and maintenance experience is required for this position. While performing facility maintenance duties, the candidate will be trained in the day-to-day operations of the Plant through the collection of hourly samples, performing laboratory tests, record keeping, process adjustments, and any other operations task required to maintain daily permitted limits. Wastewater Treatment Plant experience is not required, but is beneficial. The beginning rate of pay will be based on the experience level of the candidate. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, be organized, motivated, and willing to learn new tasks quickly. The position is fulltime, 5 days a week, day shift (8am – 4pm), with hourly based pay and paid medical benefits. Some weekend work will be required.
