Community Safety Is My Top Priority

Hilton Head Island is a place where families gather, where visitors come to feel welcome, and where our residents deserve to feel safe. What happened at Coligny Beach is unacceptable, and the people of Beaufort County deserve honest leadership that will address the root causes of violence — not just respond to it after the fact.
As your next Sheriff, I am committed to building a department that is proactive, community-rooted, and fully accountable to the public it serves. That means stronger partnerships with local businesses, tourism stakeholders, and neighborhood leaders — especially in areas where large public gatherings require coordinated safety planning.
I am calling on current law enforcement leadership to be transparent with our community about what happened, what is being done to bring those responsible to justice, and what steps will be taken to prevent tragedies like this in the future.
The people of Beaufort County deserve nothing less.
