We just want to remind everyone to be weather aware this evening as there is a chance of some strong thunderstorms with wind, hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. Make sure your devices are charged, and have several ways to get warnings and alerts. As a reminder, the outdoor warning sirens are intended to be heard by people that are outside, as a warning for them to go inside and check any weather warnings and/or alerts. They are not always audible inside of buildings and vehicles. You also cannot rely on them 100% of the time as a tornado has to be observed via radar or in person first. That information is then relayed to the National Weather Service for the warning to go out by the National Weather Service and then for the sirens to be set off.

Thank you to everyone that followed the snow emergency procedures this week that allowed the Village Public Works Department to clear streets from the snowfall this past weekend. As of today, all parking is able to return to normal throughout the village.

We also ask that if you have a fire hydrant on your property, please make sure the snow is cleared from around it so the fire department is able to locate and access it in the case of an emergency.

INFORMATIONAL POST

With the amount of snow that has fallen, The Village of Bluffton snow emergency procedures will be followed.

1.) Please do not park on Main St in the business district so the snow can be safely removed.

2.) If you live in a cul-de-sac, please move vehicles into driveways so plows can access the streets. With vehicles parked on streets plow drivers cannot get down the streets to effectively clear them.

3.) Street parking throughout town other than cul-de-sacs: If you have a driveway, please move vehicles into driveways so streets can be cleared. If you do not have driveway access, please follow this schedule. On even numbered calendar days park on the even numbered (house number) side of your street. On odd numbered calendar days please park on the odd numbered side of your street. Tomorrow will be January 26th, so vehicles should be parked on the even side of their streets. We will update here when this is lifted.

Rumpke will be pushing trash pickup back by one day this week.

Allen County and Hancock County are both under Level 3 roadway advisories now.

We've received some complaints about energy solicitors in town recently. The solicitors state they are with KIWI Energy and they are associated with the Allen County Electric Aggregation program. The supplier for the aggregation program is Dynegy with a rate of $0.06574 per kWh. It sounds like those with KIWI are not being 100% truthful while speaking with residents. Please feel free to report if someone from KIWI energy comes to your door as that company has not been issued a permit to solicit in town.

Anyone that comes to your door without a Village of Bluffton Solicitor Permit that is visible on their outermost layer of clothing is in violation of local ordinance and should be reported.
