Our EPIC staff care kiddos are really shining bright this year. 🌞

Have you ever watched a child grow right before your eyes? 🌱 Karson Ellis did just that β€” last year she needed extra routines and encouragement, and by year’s end she had made incredible progress. Now a kindergartener, she comes to EPIC smiling, helps others without seeking praise, and even comforts new students when they’re upset. We are so proud of the caring, compassionate person she’s becoming. πŸ’›

Small acts, big heart. πŸ’› When unexpected circumstances kept them late, first grader Ellie Floyd and second grader Addie Vaughn chose to clean and organize our classroom β€” and even an entire EPIC student cabinet. This wasn’t the first time they’ve done it, and they never ask for anything in return. They do it so everyone can find what they need and to make others smile. Their responsibility, initiative, and kindness inspire us all. 🌟

Yesterday during Math Fact Lab a student became frustrated. Earlier, Ms. Garmon and Ms. Markle introduced the calming corner and breathing strategies. Without being asked, Addie went to the calming corner, grabbed an affirmation sticky that read "You can do this," gave it to the student, and helped him use a breathing strategy to refocus.

It was powerful to see a student immediately apply what they learned to support a classmate. Great job, Addie β€” your kindness, leadership, and empathy made a real difference! πŸ’›πŸŒŸ

Check out these examples of kindness. Small actions can have a big impact!

Thiago Rotini stopped, picked up a dropped sweatshirt, and helped a friend gather her scattered laptop and books β€” no fanfare, just genuine care. 🌟

A 4th grader stumbled in the hallway and her things spilled everywhere. Ben Brown and Cruz Hodge stopped without hesitation, picked everything up, and helped her on her way. πŸ’›

Shoutout to Clarisa Morales Garcia for gently reminding a classmate about morning expectations. Most students have it down now, but a few still need gentle support β€” and Clarisa stepped up without drama or judgment.🌟

Yesterday Nan Joyner demonstrated responsibility and empathy when a Kindergartener bumped herself on the playground β€” Nan promptly reported it to a teacher so the child could get help. Such thoughtful, caring behavior deserves recognition. β€οΈπŸ‘

Can we get a huge round of applause for Kevin Chavez Quintanilla? πŸŽ‰ Kevin has been putting in extra work on his math facts and just passed ALL the way through Level Z β€” including the 13s–25s facts! Unreal effort and progress. πŸ™ŒπŸ’― Great job, Kevin β€” your hard work is paying off!

Each Friday, the RCES Sunshine Committee shares staff shout-outs and brags to celebrate the wonderful things happening in our school. These recognitions have traditionally come from fellow staff members, but we're excited to expand the opportunity to our students and families!
If you would like to recognize a staff member who has made a positive impact, please take a moment to complete the form linked below. Whether it's a kind gesture, extra support, or simply making a difference in your child's day, we'd love to hear about it.
The form will remain open throughout the entire school year, and shout-outs will be shared with staff every Friday.
Thank you for helping us spread sunshine and celebrate our amazing RCES staff!
