By now, I’d bet everyone in Beaufort county and maybe beyond has heard of the passing of one of Bluffton’s finest human beings, Tommy Burrows. Tommy has always helped BTFD out, sometimes even out of his way to do so. Whenever cars were needed for extrication training, it was call Tommy’s. He was always there. He’d have his crew bring cars to the training center and after the firefighters had cut them up, he would send his crew back over to collect them and take them back to his yard, ALL on his dime. Always there to help out. Even before we had a training center, he allowed BTFD to come to his yard and make a wreck of his wrecked cars. A few times, he towed a couple of our trucks at no charge to us. Why, because he was part of and wanted to help out in his community. Always friendly, always smiling. It was just who Tommy was. This is just our side, one little blip of who he was, and how much he cared. There are thousands of stories just like the one above, and probably even more yet to be told. A great man, dad, friend, business owner, and pillar of Bluffton. The photo below is recognizing Tommy’s Towing for their support to BTFD, for his part with his HD wrecker used to remove a rolled over truck onto a car, so the victims in the car could be attended to. RIP Mr. Tommy Burrows.
