On Tuesday, Bluffton High School students, fans and volleyball players celebrated the Silent Set to bring awareness to those who are deaf or hard of hearing in partnership with the Ohio-based Chasing Greatness organization. After the Tigers scored their ninth point in the first set — a tribute to BHS senior No. 9 Aleyda Cruz, who is hard of hearing — the silent cheers erupted into a loud celebration. The Tigers would go on to defeat the visiting Marion Giants in three sets.

Bluffton-Harrison Middle School will celebrate students again this school year who have taken excellent care of their school-issued devices. Being honored this month are Colton Purvis, 8th grade; Olivia Adams, 5th grade; Mr. Grieser; and Charlie McNally, 7th grade. Not pictured is Liam Beccheria, 6th grade.

From a student-led mural installation at BHS to exploring the new underwater world at BHES and seeing Tiger Tots infant childcare in person, we are grateful for our community partnerships that help make these experiences possible for our students and staff. BHMSD is hosting the Silent Set on Tuesday, Sept. 1, in The Tiger Den. During the varsity volleyball game, for the first couple points, the crowd is encouraged to cheer using Sign Language. On the 9th point, the crowd can cheer as loud as possible. Chasing Greatness is partnering with BHS for the event.
