If a draft was instituted via Congress and the President, the Selective Service would conduct a random lottery based on birthdates and would require draftees to undergo physical, mental and administrative screening, with potential deferments or exemptions for various factors including education, family circumstances, or conscientious objection. The draft order would fall as such; 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 19, 18.

Thank you!

The United States Armed Forces transitioned to an all-volunteer military force on December 7, 1972, in the waning years of the Vietnam War. The Nation’s draft was followed by also converting to a national security readiness system. The success of the all-volunteer force is apparent. This Nation is fortunate to have military heroes who served this great Nation as both volunteers and draftees.

Today, on the 50th anniversary of the last draft call and the conception of the all-volunteer military, we recognize those individuals who were drafted and bravely served America in the United States Armed Forces in times of war and peace. Thank you for your service.

Just a friendly reminder, in case we get into a big ordeal with Iran....
to the old salty Vets, you wouldn't be called up first 😉 Sorry my dudes. The draft lottery would take age groups 20-25 first followed up by 18 and 19 year olds. Now you know! And now that you know, it would be a great time to visit the Selective Service System at www.sss.gov to make sure you are registered or to update your information if you are a U.S. Male between the ages of 18-25. Registration is mandated by federal law and failure to register is a FELONY, which is punishable by a prison term of up to 5 years and/or a fine of $250,000. Do your part, dutifully.
