🎓 Congratulations to all of the students recognized during Palo Verde High School's Scholarship & Awards Night!

Last night, students were honored for their hard work, dedication, academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to their future goals. We are proud of every recipient and wish them continued success as they move forward in their educational and career journeys.

A special congratulations to the 14 students who received the Blythe Law Enforcement Departments Award. This award is made possible through the partnership and support of the Blythe Police Department, California Highway Patrol, United States Border Patrol, and La Paz County Sheriff's Office.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to retired CHP Sergeant Bobby Gonzales and his wife, Diana Gonzales, for their generous sponsorship and continued investment in our local youth.

Finally, thank you to the Riverside Sheriffs' Association (RSA) for its donation and support on behalf of our Association, helping make these student awards possible.

Congratulations again to all award recipients. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future.

The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit conducted boating safety enforcement over the past holiday weekend. The primary goal of the unit is to ensure our shared waterway is a safe place to recreate. This is accomplished through education and enforcement. Please remember to operate all watercraft sober, and with due regard for other boaters and private property. We will see you out on the water.

Reporting Supervisor: Sergeant Bryan Berryman
File # N/A

Details:
During the 2026 Memorial Day holiday weekend, the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station Marine Enforcement Unit will deploy patrol boats along the Colorado River. Historically, during holiday weekends, there is a large increase in vessel traffic, collisions, and boaters operating under the influence. This will be a “zero tolerance” weekend for all personal watercraft (PWC) and boating-related violations, especially boating under the influence and reckless operation. Please operate your vessels and PWC’s sober, watch out for other watercraft and swimmers, and wear a lifesaving vest. Remember, deputies are trained to detect alcohol and or drug-impaired drivers and operators. They will be equipped with portable handheld breath-testing devices that provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration for suspected drunk drivers and operators. This enforcement detail is expected to run from May 22nd through May 25th, 2026.

The CA Department of Boating and Waterways Boating Safety and Education website contains a wealth of knowledge regarding the safe and legal operation of vessels in the state of California.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Colorado River Station is dedicated to the safety of our community and wants to ensure that everyone on our waterways has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. All boating-related questions should be directed to Sergeant Berryman at (760) 921–7900.

🚴‍♂️ Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrest 🚔

Recently, one of our deputies conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist for failing to stop at a posted stop sign. During the investigation, the subject was found to be in possession of various illegal narcotics and was subsequently arrested.

Illicit drugs remain illegal under California and federal law due to the serious risks they pose to public health and safety. Possession of narcotics for the purpose of sales or distribution carries significant criminal penalties. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts to help keep our communities safe.
