The City of Blytheville is in search of Code Enforcement Officers for our Blytheville's Quality of Life Unit-Code Enforcement Department. This is a full-time position primarily to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes, zoning laws, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Protect the public welfare by monitoring and enforcing a variety of applicable ordinances, codes, to determine the presence of health hazards, nuisance violations, sites that may be a harbinger for vermin, unsafe building conditions and violations of any health, building or land use regulation, statute or ordinance.
Education and Certification:
A high school diploma is required; a degree in a related field is preferred.
Certification in code enforcement or related areas can enhance job prospects.
Please include a resume. Applicant must be able to pass local/state/federal background checks.
This role is crucial for maintaining safety and quality standards in commercial properties, contributing to community well-being and development. Additional training will be required and provided upon hire.

The City of Blytheville is currently looking for seasonal Code Enforcement Field Technicians to help keep our community safe, clean, and compliant. This is a part-time seasonal position that is set to end on October 16, 2026. Please see job description below!

This isn’t just a mowing job—this is a "boots on the ground" team responsible for resolving property violations. From maintaining neglected lots to securing abandoned structures, your work directly improves the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Property Maintenance: Operate mowers, w**d eaters, and blowers to bring non-compliant properties back to city standards.
• Securing Structures: Board up broken windows/doors and secure vacant or hazardous properties to prevent unauthorized entry.
• General Abatement: Remove debris, trash, and illegal signage as directed by departmental work orders.
• Field Support: Assist Code Enforcement Officers with various tasks to resolve health and safety hazards.
• Equipment Care: Perform basic daily maintenance on gear to ensure the crew stays operational.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Code Enforcement.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
• Ability to work around potential hazards like tall grass, debris, or unstable structures.
• Someone who shows up and who is ready to work and can follow a daily work order list independently.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and can lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with attention to detail.
• Professional and courteous demeanor when dealing with the public and coworkers.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving history.
• Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
• No felony convictions or Class A misdemeanor offenses.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Very comfortable using power tools, mowers, and basic hand tools.

Good morning, Blytheville!

We were able to complete the demolition of 104 E. Davis! We did the structure in the rear on the 8th and the structure in the front on the 16th of July.

Here are some before and during photos below for you.

Huge thanks to the Public Works and the Fire Department for always being on scene to get the work done.
